so i searched a lot... and the basic opinion of the ACT 2600 clutch is that its not the best...
but im getting a good deal on it... and i need a clutch, its also coming with the ACT flywheel... so i have a few questions.

first; i have a 97 GST; stock trans. 70k original miles.

if i install this setup... should i replace the clutch fork, pivot ball, and that stuff?
also the slave cylinder, and the master cylinder???

is there any place to buy stronger clutch forks? i've looked but, all i could find were "oem" replacements.

thanks for the help. i hope to learn a lot here!

I realize you are getting a good deal, but unless you have high HP in mind for the life of this clutch you (as in your left leg) will be happier with the ACT2100. As far as your master/slave cylinders they should be good, unless they are showing signs of wear. With the fork and pivot ball I think it is a good idea to change it out, you already have it apart and it is a $65 part. If something happens to it after the fact it is still a $65 part but then you have either your headache of changing it out or paying someone else to do it. Just my .02

If you already have to take the trans off just do the fork and ball all at once. It's better to get done now than to have have to tear it back apart later. Get a new throw out bearing and make sure it's a Mitsu one and not one from Napa or some other place. My Napa one just let go last week and it was only a year old. It actually shattered into about 5 pieces.

I love my 2600 with xact flywheel combo, Ive had it for almost two years without any problems what so ever. I would reccomend changing fork, pivot ball, slave, and throwout bearing, just to get it out of the way. As for the feel of the stiff clutch, you get used to it very quickly and wont even notice the difference anymore, and grabs like a champ!

Break it in too if its your dd.

Ditto, but I've only had mine about 9 months. Definately like it.:thumb: 120k on a stock tranny, master and slave were replaced.

Taboo used to sell an "unbreakable" clutch fork, but I think they went out a business a couple years ago. I bought one after my 2600 snapped the stock fork like a twig.

The biggest complaint about the 2600 is pedal pressure. it's not a big deal. After a week you don't even notice it.

I think the 2100 lbs act clutch would be better for your application. It is always worth is to atleast resurface the flywheel or replace it while doing a clutch also do the slave cylinder. The throw out bearing always needs to be replaced whether you doing it cheap or not it is just good insurance also clutch fork and throw out bearing. So i guess it comes down to getting the whole kit and just doing it ONE time =) And remeber thats to do it on the cheap and do it once
Highspeeds

thanks for the feedback, and so fast.

i'll defintaley buy a new fork, TOB, and pivot ball.
and i was reading people had some good success with shimming the pivot ball.
any ideas on that whole thing???
