alright so i installed my act 2600 clutch got everthing backtogether and when the car is on it will not go into gear but when the car is off it will go into every gear fine we adjusted the clutch pedal and still nothing and the car will drive when it is started in gear please help me and let me know what i need or whats goning on thanks

if you sure you installed everything in the right way/ torqued to specs.. I.E flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate, then start with the obvious.

Bleed (again) then check slave / master cylinders.

i was thinking about buying the extended slave cylinder ????

Yes, it sounds like a throw issue. The extended slave cylinder will definately help your problem but.... first look at the location of the clutch fork in relation to the hole it comes through, it should be in th ecenter or a bit towards the drivers side...if its really close to the passenger side, chances are youll be pulling the trans and putting a new fork/pivot ball in. Check that first because if thats the case, the extended rod wont help. If its where it should be...its an easy fix:thumb: . Also, did you make any adjustments to the master cylinder yet?

no i have not made any adjustments to the master cylinder and i will check the fork later tonight i hope like hell i dont have to pull the tranny again thanks for the help though

Just had to bring back the dead. I have the exact same problem 91 6 bolt w/ act2600 and act flywheel. Won't go into gear with car on, shifts ok with car off. My fork is also toward the drivers side past the centerline so it seems fine. I have tried adjusting in and out with no luck. I was told to always shim your pivot ball when you do this to get extra travel, but I didn't. Could that be the problem? Should I try adjusting again in smaller increments?

Im sorry to say this, but on every ACT install, ive always replaced the Slave cylinder ,replaced the clutchline with an SS one and installed a washer under the pivotball..

Before the whole situation drives you crazy..bleed the clutch 2 more times...and tell us what happens.

Same thing happened to me with my ACT2600 install and I had a new slave and SS clutch line. The shop that resurfaced my fly wheel (NAPA) did not do it to the propper step hight. I should have checked the step hight after it was resurfaced. I trusted them that it was right. Big mistake  I removed the tranny and flywheel and had it measured at a machine shop. It was too small of a step. It's just one thing to keep in mind. Also if your clutch petal feels springy/spongie, keep bleading. Good luck man:thumb:

As long as the flywheel was stepped right, and your systems is bled properly ( don't pump it when bleeding..one push, then bleed, and start again) If the slave, master cyl, release arm and pivot ball are all in good order there should be no problem with the shifting. Things like extended push rods, and shimming the ball are only band aids for a more underlying problem or to make use of a particular clutch, but not on the 2600... I've had the same issue and it was the pivot ball was broken in half.. If you can grab the release arm and jiggle it around more than 1mm at most, i will wager your pivot ball or release arm are bad.

Listen to Bigblaze...step height is CRUCIAL!!!!!!!! and must be done' correctly to .610 or .612
