act 2600, How does it feel??

I am looking to purchase a act 2600 and i was wondering how it feels compared to the stock clutch. Does it engage the second you let it out??? I also hear its harder to push in. Just curious........

its pretty stiff - and can be ruff on the leg in heavy traffic at times - but in general after a few days ya will be used to it... ( and ya it grabs and dont let go

Yeah it grabs pretty hard. But only at the level you set it.

As for the pressure. It is tolerable.

Just a warning...If you have a bad left knee and then strain it somehow driving will be really crappy.

all in all I love it though...it takes a lot of abuse well.

My friend got the 2600 installed in his gst and I loved driving it. I just got my new 97 a couple of days ago, and the clutch was bad so it gace me an excuse to get the 2600. It feels so comforatable, and the pressure isnt bad, it gives you a good sense of feel. All in all, I think it is wonderfull and would recommend it. Hope that helps

The difference is noticable but you get used to it, even in traffic I have no problems with it at all. I come form an old truck/muscle car back ground so everything was a cable or lever system so I am used to heavy clutches, either way I love mine and get great launches out of it

I agree with him and everyone else in this thread.
The act2600 is pretty stiff, espically when your in a traffic jam. You will grow to dislike the clutch personally if you are in stop and go traffic alot.

But I love the clutch.
Don't forget to get the SS clutch line.

Didn't see anything in your signature that would warrant a 2600 being necessary. I had a 2600 and didn't like the heavy pedal pressure. More or less it just got really annoying during city driving.

I now have a Centerforce Dual Friction and love it. Pedal pressure is normal and it grabs very well.

I am 5'7 117lbs. I have the act 2600 and I would not get any other clutch but this one.
Pedal pressure is different at first, But once you start driving it alot, You get really useto it. God forbid you ever hafto drive a 'normal' car again. I did, And I almost literally put the clutch through the firewall and I rode the clutch so much I was not useto something like that! I would definatly recommend the act2600 if you are looking for a new clutch.

I'll just say I'm very glad our cars have a hydraulic clutch engagement system.

Great clutch, grabs very well, and you can slip it just enough to always get that 'perfect' launch. Of course, you're FWD, too.

I have very little stop-and-go traffic, so it is fine by me. Seemed very hard to push at first, but after a week or so...could barely notice a difference between stock...

Now I know there is a difference, because get used to every mechanic, muffler shop person, or anyone else that tries to drive it--because they will conk it out. I've had at least 4 different people conk it out already trying to take off! :laugh:
