2G AC condenser

Hi guys, does anyone perhaps know if the AC condenser on a 2G is interchangable with any other car? I kinda need a new one because mine is busted but I can't find any for a decent price. I saw one listed on ebay as an "AC condenser for Stratus Eclipse Sebring" but I'm not sure I trust it just with a name like that that includes 3 different cars... Anyone have any experience in this?

I wouldn't trust one for those cars as they shared the 420A engine, and everything is 180 degrees flipped under the hood. I say just get a new one. This way you know you're getting the proper part, and since it's an A/C component, I think it's just smarter. Buy used, and you might end up with one that leaks. You just really won't know until you install and get it charged.

Right, forgot about the 420A for a minute . Yeah, I wouldn't mind a new one, the only problem is, ebay wants more than what the condenser is worth in shipping and import fees alone... I found one for $130 which I thought was just about right but then shipping was like $250 which is absolutely crazy. So unless someone can tell me of a european market one that's interchangable and that I can source localy, I might just have to delete the AC which I realy don't want to do with the temperatures as they are

Sh!t, didn't notice you were in EU. I bought a new compressor last year from a site that also had condensers and all the other parts. When I get back home, and if I remember, I will send you that link. See if they will ship to EU for reasonable prices.

The AC condenser is unique to the 2G Eclipse with either the 4G63 or 4G64 2.4 liter, GS-T or GSX, part number MB899040.

Interestingly, the EU GS is listed with a part number MR240595. From the pictures they look almost identical but I suspect the inlet and outlet flanges might be slightly to one side compared to the US turbo variants. Sometimes you can get away with bending the inlet and outlet pipes ever so slightly when fitting poor quality Chinese condensers for example, but in this case I cannot guarantee direct fitment.

Regardless of what you do, stay away from the chinese condensers if you want it to last more than one summer!

I've had good luck with used condensers. In your shoes I'd try to find a 'you pull it' parts place with a system that still has pressure in it. Donno if you have such parts yards or not.

OR - go with an eBay or other supplier that has a good guarantee. Then install the thing quickly when it arrives and immediately tell the seller if there's an issue. Ebay will take care of you -- they sometimes shaft sellers but very rarely buyers if you play by the rules.

I've gotten a few bad parts on eBay but the seller has always done the right thing.

OR -- keep looking for a supplier that has a lower shipping fee. When the fee seems very high there's often quite a bit of variability and shopping around can sometimes save half.

OR -- talk to a car A/C professional. Sometimes they have sources that aren't well known. Have you contacted Mitsubishi in your country?

Make sure you've searched using multiple search terms -- the Mitsu p/n, 'Eclipse A/C condenser (year)' and so on. You may learn interchange and aftermarket supplier numbers as you search: check those out too.

I would not delete the A/C. Keep it buttoned up so it stays clean, maybe pull the fuse, and keep watching for the part you need.

alright, thank you for the many sugestions. But yeah, localy, I probably won't find anything used anytime soon, I called every scrapyard in the country and no one has an eclipse of any generation. Which makes sense, there's like three 2Gs and even fewer 1Gs in the whole country so scrapyards have no reason to hold on to them even if one came through. Ebay so far is the number one contender for parts, I ordered a timing belt cover and while the shipping was a bit expensive, everything was as stated and no scams were pulled. I will probably visit the local mitsubishi dealer sometime in the future but I'm not very hopeful as those dudes have been known to overcharge you for anything and everything. I do like the idea of talking to an AC professional though, they might know something I don't or have contacts I don't so that might just be what I do.

Anyways, as always, If anyone trashed their 2G and would like to get rid of it, I would love a parts car HMU

Just as a note, I just installed a complete GPD A/C system on my Chevrolet Pickup from RockAuto and it all fit good and works fantastic. I bought a whole kit for my truck, compressor, condenser, receiver/dryer and hoses. If you were worried about the brands, and I was too, I gave that company a shot and I am very pleased. Sorry the shipping was $100, but they DID offer shipping, so that is good!

There is a junkyard here who had two 2G Euro 4G63 N/A cars for parts and are still selling two condensers. The price for local delivery to me + the item + shipping it out to Slovenia with DPD is roughly 75 euros. They look intact but there is no guarantee. Also like I mentioned earlier, the part numbers differ yet the cars should be identical as well as engine and AC line placement. Worst case is you'd have to slightly bend a pipe or outlet. Just putting this out there if you would like to try and use this option; I will gladly help you out. Sent lots of parts to other folks around the EU and US

Thank you for the kind offer, It's just that you are a little late as I just recieved the ebay one this morning . Cost me 152 euros with shipping but it is brand new so I'm counting it as a win.
