Ok so here's what i have.

97 GSX

Hahn Racecraft 16g Turbo
Greddy FMIC
Full Exhaust
Greddy Type S BOV
Injen Intake
Greddy Boost and EXT Gauges


Car runs nice right now but looking to get more power. Here's what im ordering...

Fuel Lab "515 FPR Kit"
Walbro 255hp fuel pump
Injectors
Boost controller

Now my question is, If im doing dsmlink in the future but not quite yet, are these parts ok to install safely for more power? and what size injectors would you go with? Can i do 850's without a tune? or should i do 650's since i wont have dsmlink yet?

Not bad don't forget the wideband.Also just get 1000cc injectors if you running ecmlink those are the max you want to run on pump gas that will idle perfect.Also with those big injectors you can run some E85 or race gas if wanna make some good numbers on the 16g.Don't waste your money on safc had it for a week and it's tottaly not worth it.Save up and get link.
 
550's are pretty much the max ytou can go without tuning... the ecu will run 550's anything bigger you will need some type of tuning...

if you have ecmlink its really not that hard to get bigger injectors to run right even at idle.. I had a set 1600cc ran on pump.. was a pain inthe butt to get it to run right but after messing with it.. i was able to tune them in and ran great.. had her purring like a cat at idle on 91 pump..

He won't need 1600cc injectors, and yes you can run those big inejctors if u want but its whatever crumy.

550's will "work", but the ECU has no idea they are there and has a very limited way to see that they are there. Thus your injecting 22% more fuel than the ECU is programmed to control. 41% more if you have a 1g auto ECU.

OP- I think your on the right track with Link and a wideband. I wouldn't mess with any of the piggy back fuel controllers such as SAFC, they are lightyears behind DSMLink and aren't any easier to use. Injectors are all up to you, but there is no need to pay an arm & leg for 2500cc injectors if you just want maybe another 100 pony's out of the engne. ECMTuning's wiki has a great spread sheet for determining which injector sizes will support X amount of airflow and if they are good for running E85. You'd be surprised how small of injectors can run E85.

But I would wait to get anymore kick out of your car without having some kind of tuning device and wideband installed. Wouldn't want you to hurt the engine. :thumb:

you can install the injectors at the same time as Link and the wideband if you had them already. But otherwise you have it pretty spot-on. You could make some OK power without headstuds for now, but it would definitely be an upgrade to consider in the future.

Correct wasnt saying he should get 1600's.. jsut replying to the one that said anything over 1000 on pump you cant tune to idle right is all... 1600 is way over kill unless you have the mods and setup for it i understand that...

and yes even 550's the ECU wont read correctly.. but yet without anything to tune thm with IF you were to up your injectors shouldnt go over 550's is all i was saying on that one...

Link is the best way to go over all... I have it.. I use it and dont know how i lived without it so long..
 
It's cool you can make everythign work to an exstent just better not to have to deal with the trouble of doing it.

So your list is a wideband, boost controller, walbro 255 fuel pump, 1000cc injectors, afpr, ecmlink, you don't need to worry about arp head studs on the 16g even at 20psi you should be ok.This should put you at about 300+whp range.Make sure all maintance is done.Full 3 inch exhaust and front mount intercooler.

I am in the same boat.

I only have enough money right now to either get afpr, injectors, wideband OR Ecm Link.

Which one would you guys get first?

Don't mean to hijack thread, thought it was somewhat related.

ecmlink then a wideband then injectors and fuel pump in this order.

well i just ordered a Walbro 255Hp pump, FIC 850cc injectors, Fuel Lab 515 afpr. Will be ordering DSM LinkV3 Lite in a couple days. Can you think of anything else i will need to make around 300whp?
Also AMS said they would dyno tune my ncar for $550. sound about right? i would do it myself but dont know enough about tuning and dont wanna mess the car up.
