i just bought my 94 tsi awd 3 days ago, it has the gm mafT, td05h turbo, apexi turbo timer, and stock blue 450cc injectors. the boost is at 10-12psi. i want more then that so i ordered the clinic 750cc injectors off of the vendor list here. i also ordered the oem exedy clutch kit with Pplate and t.o.b cause its slipping. hopeing the flywheel is good but if not, ill grab a new one, any recommendations on one, or just stick with the oem?

next question is, t-belt and tensinor, car has 110k so im not taking any chances. any input if i should stick with oem, go the cheaper aftermarket kits that come with everything:notgood: or fancy race beltLOL. i plan to eleminate the balance shaft as well, if it hasnt already been done. with that said, should i go with the oem mirage parts, or go with the performance elimination kits? really dont want to spend alot on the balance shaft removal, im kinda thinking about just replacing the belt for now and leaving the thing in:banghead:

next on the list is fmic, car currently has the stock smic installed. i saw this ebay fmic, i found a thread on a similar kit someone had installed on here with good results, but i cant seem to find it. any thoughts, or input on what to avoid?

90-94 Eclipse/Talon/Laser Intercooler+Piping Kit DSM/1G : eBay Motors (item 370322183864 end time Mar-18-10 21:52:44 PDT) $350

now on to tuning the pcm, dsmlink is looking hella sexy and im pretty much set on it, any input on it before pulling that 500$ trigger? i have seen a few for around $300 but not sure whats up with the price difference. im aware i will need an eprom ecu, any advice on were to pick one up for a decent price?

also looking at one of these Road Race Engineering's Eclipse Fuel Delivery Upgrades so which way to go?:idontknow:

and last but not least, a wally 255fp to feed her.

i have spent the last week or so searching these forums along with a few others, just want to get some direct input before i start spending all my money.
thanks for your time.

the 750cc injectors were a good purchase but your going to want to upgrade your fuel pump as well. i went with a walbro 255 fp and wish i could do it again, if i knew better 2yrs ago i would have saved my money and gotten a stock evo IX fp for cheap. check around craigslist, ebay, the classifieds here, or evom for cheap OEM evo parts. i say not to get the bigger 255 because your going to also need to buy an adjustable fuel pressure regulator (afpr) because the 255 will overrun your stock one. if you want to get a wally and shy away from used evo parts get a wally 190, you can still use the OEM fpr.

if you crack open your transmission then you might as well just replace the flywheel with a lightened one while your in there. use the stock TOB from mitsu, aftermarket ones don't last and there are a few threads about this floating aroud the site.
two :thumb: :thumb: for replacing the t-belt before you continue on with performance parts. i suggest replacing the timing belt (use OEM), the timing belt tensioner, tensioner pulley, idler pulley, balance shaft belt, and the balance shaft tensioner.

IMO now that ive emptied the bank account i realize that a FMIC is a big piece of aluminum that cools air, its hard for someone to design this stuff poorly! i think when it comes to radiators/intercoolers you pay for the name more than anything so go with that ebay fmic ive never heard a bad thing about them. just dont start replacing your turbo with ebay knock offs...

read up on dsmlink ECMTuning, Inc. the different costs your looking at are probably ecmlink V3 and ecmlink V3lite. you do need an EPROM, but again if you look at the website you'll see they can convert your 1g ECU to an EPROM for a cost as well. who knows you might get lucky and already have an EPROM in there?
i don't suggest you get an SAFC to tune, just spend the money on dsmlink and don't look back. again, i went with the SAFC/logger setup and couldn't dial it in to run right. i finally broke down and got dsmlink and LOVE IT!

hope that answers 99% of your questions.

cool thanks for the reply, the car has an aftermarket fpr on it already, looks to be an aeromotive (its big and anodized red) with the liquid filled pressure gauge.

i have also been milling over on the idea of running the evo 8 ecu, im a mitsubishi tech, so i can get all the info and pinouts for the job and not affraid of wiring, but i still think the dsmlink is the way i am going to go. im going to pop the pcm out and crack her open to check if its eprom later today.

the kid i bought it from had no idea what all has been modified on the car, he didnt know it had the 16g turbo on it. SCORE! so it could very well have a better fuel pump in it already.

so do you suggest leaving the balance shaft in? the oil pump area is leaking, so im wondering if someone has already been in there and didnt get it sealed properly? oh, and i always replace the hydraulic tensionors and eccentric pulleys while im in there.

what would you recommend for a flywheel, i was thinking the fidanza looks pretty good. i know the lightend flywheels can cause a p0300 missfire code on the evo's due to the knock sensor parameters being effected, but i dont imagine thats a problem with the older dsm's.

I have a Fidanza 7bolt flywheel for sale (used), PM me if interested.

You parts list looks pretty good, check out STM parts as well. I got most of my stuff from them for a great price. Their timing belt kit is also optioned to come with a BSE kit as well.

If you go with the 255pump, get an AFPR. The lightweight flywheels on my vehicles never gave me a problem including stalling which is what I was told would happen.

cool thanks, oh and the regulator is adjustable. PM sent liquidx

do you have a link for stm parts? i googled it, and only found a trailer parts site, and a super moto bike catalog

odds are you've already got an upgraded fp in there then if its got the afpr.

what 16g is on it? im curious because in your OP you said it has a TDO5 turbo on it but that could very well be the stock 1g turbo (14b) unless you look at the part number on the backside of the compressor housing you won't know.
here are the numbers to tell what TDO5 you have on there...
14b - 49178-01010 // 49178-01030 // 49178-01400 // 49178-01410
small 16g - 49178-01520
big 16g - 49178-01420
evo III 16g - 49178-01470

ive never had a bad part or anything from STM, great customer service and shipping is free too. it just took nearly a month to get the parts i ordered from them. on the upside though they sent me a bunch of jolly ranchers with my suspension parts! :rocks: worth it.
STM DSM TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT KIT

i run a ACT chromoly flywheel and love it! i don't have anything to compare it to since i put it on my car when i did my A/T to M/T conversion though. no CEL codes though like the evo's throw.

:dsm:

bummer, its just a 14b 491 78-01030 thanks for that info gofer. i just saw the tdo5h and googled it, saw 16g in some of the results. turbo is fairly new and no shaft play, but i guess im adding a turbo to the list here shortly. should i go with the big 16g or skip to somthing bigger?

thanks for the link, ill definitely be picking up some parts from them! ill look into the act flywheel as well. so far i have ordered the fmic i posted earlier, the 7bolt timing belt kit with BSE from STM, 750 clinic injectors, exedy oem clutch kit. i acually have a walbro 190 sitting in the garage for a ford fi 5.0l im thinking it should work, ill have to check it out when i go to rewire the FP.

well i crammed the FMIC in last night, as i expected the thing wasnt a perfect fit, but i got it in. i got a flywheel from liquidx and the new friction for it from summit, so thats ready to go in, but i have a question about the T.O.B that came with my oem kit, im pretty sure it isnt the oem bearing, just oem pres plate and disc, with a nachi t.o.b.
i didnt take any photos of the install of the fmic, i did snap one before i plumbed it. i also threw a pic of the fuel injector clinic 750cc's

If he is deleting the balance shafts then he needs to buy that stuff why?

OP:
I recommend Partsdinosaur.com. Everything on there is legit and cheap.

t belt kit and bse kit already on the way from STM parts. but ill check them in the future, thanks.

thanks liquidx, and thanks again for the flywheel, yea, no boost leaks and instantly noticed a power gain, cause the clutch will not hold at all now when boost comes in! hope to have the rest of the parts installed within the next week or so. just waiting on the t belt kit now. should be able to max out this 14b easy, i also need to check what fuel pumps installed and replace if necessary.

Have you checked into DSMap? It's about $200 to run, and then you need the eprom ecu. All link variants require the eprom ecu as well. The only real option that doesn't is an AFC.

cool, im reading up on it right now, thanks for the heads up!

that socket you got for you ECU is what you need but you need to find someone that can remove that microchip thats already on there and solder on that new socket without destroying your ECU. i just sent my ECU into ecmlink when i ordered V3 and they did the socket job AND installed the new ecmlink microchip as well so i didn't break any of the legs off of it.
it looks like things are coming along well, you should start a build blog.

:dsm:

i was gonna desolder the chip out and soilder in the new one my self, i have a bit of experience with repairing electronics(tv's, amps) and what not.

i wont bee able to get the dsmlink for a while. i thought about a build log, but as of tonight ive already installed all of the parts and my phone was dead so no more pics. the car will be finished up tomorrow.
