Hey guys

I was doing some searches and really didnt get a solid answer to what i want to know

I plan on ordering a clutch/flywheel from extremepsi but want to ask a few questions 1st.

What flywheel is better? the fidanza or the ACT flywheel?

Aslo the price difference between the act 2600 and 2900 is only $18.. should i go with the 2600 or spend the extra and get the 2900??

Thanks for the help!

well i believe that the act flywheel is more heavier than the fidanza....please correct me if im wrong. IMO i would stick with the whole combo of one company so u can be sure of a direct fit. ive herd good things about both of the flywheels, well you say the clutch diffrence is $18 but it all depends on your goal of the car. if you not planning to make 500 hp then just stick with the 2600.

For drivabilty sake, I'd stick to the 2600. I've heard both good and bad about both flywheels. Matter of opionion and chance. Both are good companies, so go with what you'd rather have.

I know if you stuck with ACT it could negate any of "contact this manufactuer" down the road. I hate when to companies try to put it on the other one

I have a mix and match clutch setup. First SBR 3500 pp (like act2600 pp) competition clutch disk and ACT streetlite flywheel. Then I ripped the springs apart in the competition clutch disk. I'm fwd WTF but anyway figured that an act clutch disk w/ the revised springs would be great. Sheared the center up from the disk. Really what is happening is that I'm shifting hard into 4th and I've got lots o' traction then;) .

Point 1) Your clutch disk takes the beating. A 2600 my be fine for your goals or maybe you need more clamping force. But look into a race disk in my opinion. Your "parts wish list": Big turbo and a built motor. Torque is he!! on clutch disk hubs. One toquemonster that comes to mind: RayPeters setup. RayPeters 6 puck sprung center race disk has put up w/ over 450 whp and because of his twin charged set up has 550 ftlbs of torque and reaches full boost under 2500 rpms... This is not good for a clutch disk to see. Nevertheless his race disk has supprising street manners according to him. . . He buys from here:

Clutchnet.com
. . . This will be my next purchase too.

Point 2) Checking and reservicing the fly wheel step height is neccesary when dropping in a new clutch. Also many get all parts from the same manufacturer. BUT, I did neither and have great disengagement, zero chatter, zero slip. Great fitment, no issues w/ install. Why? i got a new flywheel that advertised the same step height. and a pressureplate that works w/ a stock flywheel and clutch disk that has the same thickness as oem. So, if you by all thre (FW, PP, Clutchdisk), then servicing thestepheight should not be necessary. . .

The ACT is about 10 lbs less than the stock. The fidanza is about 15 lbs less. The Fidanza had problems shattering at one point. Don't know if they still do. . .

I like my ACT streetlite. Significantly lighter than stock and reliable. The pad is made from a special alloy (not pure aluminum).

I like my SBR 3500 pp. It has stock pedal feel and has clamped great so far. Has a good design to cope w/ heat. I'm fwd and I live slipping my clutch.

The Fidazana flywheel is lighter that the ACT, but as I recall it was only 1-3 lbs. I have a Fidazana flywheel with a Luk clutch. The Fidazana is a nice unit and fits well. I have slipped the clutch numerous times during launch and no issues have developed (9k miles).

The LUK bolted up with no issues, but it is an OEM style replacement, not aftermarket. Yet, I would recommend sticking with the same brand for the clutch and flywheel for performance clutches like bOOst tsi said.

I believe the ACT is 13 pounds and the fidanza is only 8, I'd go with the fidanza, aluminum is about 3X stronger than steel per unit of weight... theoretically 8 pounds of aluminum is stronger than 13 pounds of chromoly.

I thought if you went with ACT, you had to go the whole route due to the alloy metal that they make their flyweel and all that out of? I can't remeber where I red this but it was on of hte vendor sites when I was looking a for a cltuch setup for myself
