Ok so I got my turbo engine and its from an automatic not a 5 speed and my 5 speed tranny wont fit is there a way to make it fit and how

btw its a 93 eclipse

I was going to grind it down flush with were my flywheel bolts on just needed to know if I could do that or not. Everybody was giving me answers on what I did not want to hear. I just asked if I could grind it down so I can put my flywheel on cause the pilot bearing was a prick to get out
 
I just saw this thread and was wondering what would happen if the pilot bushing was left in. I did an engine swap and motor was previously in an auto I remember pulling the flexplate and not the bushing. However I have had zero problems mounting flywheel or starting but have snapped a few clutch discs.

do u have a 1g or 2g. I know with the 1g the flywheel wont bolt up cause the pilot bearing sticks out too far.

Guess EVENTUALLY.....im gonna be doing this too. Opposite, ill be installing a pilot. Might be a bit easier but if i do have to use the old one i'll make sure to use a good french bread, heard thats the best
 
I would like to clear one thing up real quick. There is no pilot bearing. There is only a converter pilot bushing. This is to center the converter in the center of the crankshaft and that is it. The manual cars don't use a pilot bearing. To the original poster, just because you didn't hear the answer you wanted to hear doesn't make the answers wrong. If you just wanted to cut it and not listen to anyone than why not just do it and not start 2 new threads. It is good that you decided to ask for help. Now take that help and get this bushing out. In the time that it took read and reply back to these people you could of just went out, got it out and been done with it. Any of the methods listed work well. I prefer the slide hammer with a internal puller. It usually comes out on the 3 or 4th whack with the hammer.
