A/T pilot bushing removal

Ok so I got my turbo engine and its from an automatic not a 5 speed and my 5 speed tranny wont fit is there a way to make it fit and how

btw its a 93 eclipse

Change the backing plate and flywheel to a 5 speed. Not a big deal and well documented.

How do I change the flywheel? And what is the backing plate? Sorry have been through hell trying to get my car fixed

You need to remove the pilot bushing from the end of the crankshaft too.

u can rent the special tool to remove it from autozone. if you can get to the store us a wet rag, bar of soap, grease and a socket that fits snuggly and hammer it in, inserting more soap, grease or pieces of wet rag and it comes out.

Any above mentioned too. I use a slide hammer.

Remove flwheel bolts. Remove backing plate bolts. Install 5spd backing plate and 5spd flywheel. I dont see the confusion. Backing plate is behind flywheel.

Can I just grind the pilot bearing flush with where I bolt the flywheel on I have a automatic engine putting a 5 speed tranny on it I have a 93 eclipse

why would you want to hack up a $10 part to have it fail? remove it install a new one and the proper flywheel

use the tool/methods in your other thread! do you really want to have to pull the trans out because you ground down something that could have been changed?

I dont need to replace it my old engine did not have a pilot bearing the 5 speed fly wheel wont fit unless I take the pilot bearing out or grind it down I have a 5 speed trans the engine I got was from an automatic car

Its a pilot bearing man, if you can get around getting that out how are you going to align and bolt up your clutch?!

So since this will be relevant to what I am doing. I am used to manuals having pilot bearings, autos just empty. He is saying that the auto has a pilot bearing but manual does not in these cars?

I am converting a 4g64 to manual, so need to know if I need a different pilot bearing, or remove it.

Why take on this swap if you haven't done any research?

So basically you remove the pilot bearing, swap backing plates from the manual, bolt on manual flywheel (torque flywheel 94-101ft-lbs) Then the rest is just like doing a clutch job. Pretty straight forward!!

If your already stumped with this then I can only imagine how the rest of the swap will go

I kno how to do the swap and just needed a simple question that nobody could answer all I needed to know is if I could grind the pilot bearing down flush with my flywheel cause it was a prick to get out
