ok im doing the AT to MT swap and i have to take the pilot bearing out, ive tried a puller, hammer and punch, everything, how do people take these out im desperate

I haven't done one on my talon yet, but from what I've heard from other mechanic's is that you can pack grease or damn toliet paper in the center, and continue to pack it until hit presses it's self out. The toliet paper routine is alot easier to clean out though. Best of luck.

toilet paper?!?! LOL ...anyways i ended up hacksawing the excess offf and filing it down but wow...toilet paper?? hmm that sounds..interesting

A dollop of grease and a socket which just barely fits the bearing, put backward on a ¼" extension. Tap with a hammer and witness the awesome power which is hydraulics.

I'd never heard the toilet paper one before. Wet or dry? Single or double layer? Embossed? Scented?

There's also the hoary technique of using a pilot bearing puller, but it's really not as elegant as grease. And I've not run across one that works as well.
