Ok well you have probably heard me talking about this whole turbo project for under $1000 and this and that. well i got some pics to post of my progress just to show you guys im not just throwing shit around without actually doing anything LOL. here is the turbo mounted(sorta) on the manifold. the manifold is actually pretty strong. the collector is only tacked on in 1 little place and its holding the turbo on by itself(the wood under the turbo isnt actually touching it). ill be welding the rest of it tomarrow. basically all thats left is piping fabrication and im done. well heres the pics, shoot me any questions you want. i assure you the write-up will be up sooner or later. im kinda a slow fabricator so its taking me a while. but it will make it up eventually. well enjoy

And I was also wondering if ur going to be intercooled, and what kind (front/side)
Also how much boost do u plan on running?

well i have a stock 2g smic bolted onto my car right now. but if all goes to plan, i will be boosting non intercooled tonight!!! im thinking of just connecting the turbo directly to the tb for now while i make the intercooler pipes. as for how much psi, i have no idea LOL, im hoping for around 5 but i dunno how this wastegate will react to my modifications.

dont forget some kind of heat protection for your radiator hose and other hoses near the turbo, also watch your passenger side fan, ive read those things have been known to melt if the turbo is to close.

looks good..u might want to get the sfmu in the future its way better to adjust idel fuel pressure then with the fmu.

i know i know but im too impatient to wait to make a heat shield!

hey those home depot 90 degree hose conectors will pop or melt after about 2 mins. other than that looks good.

hmm well we will see how long it lasts then LOL one of them will also be holding the BOV on ROFL this will be the most ghetto rigged turbo kit ever at first LOL

I just wanna know when your boosting......you should post as soon as that happens, and let us know what the boost gauge says.....along with any other monotiring tools you've got.
Are u gonna have to use a boost controller to set the boost lower? or does it already come like that?

a boost controller only raises boost it doesnt lower it. i did the spring mod on the wastgate to hopefully make it open as early as i want it to. i could be boosting tomarrow if i can figure out a temporary downpipe. i ####ed up makeing mine and it doesnt fit, so i have to find a temp till i can remake mine. any ideas? everything else will be set

who needs a DP???? Or just rig up some dryer hose and be cool like the kids with the dryer hose CAI. ROFL

is that the stock intake with a new filter :coy:
Anyways I have always loved the look of the turbo on our cars. Just right in your face when you open the hood. :rocks:

ya that is the stock intake pipe, i took my AEM CAI off to mount the intercooler. and i didnt want to put the air box back in so i just threw a peice of shit autozone filter that i had on there.

well guys, im boosting!!! shitty!!! LOL

i got a shitty temp dp on till i can get to school tomarrow and make a new one. i think i also have a vac leak cuz at idle it starts to hop around a lot and the vac drops to only 10 in/hg and occasionally it dies. and it runs horrible at part throttle, but at full throttle its rockin. i think thats cuz my front o2 sensor is duct-taped up under the car and isnt in the exhaust :coy: . but the spring mod on the wastegate worked perfectly, im only boosting 3 psi!!! so looks like i gotta order an mbc. but the spool sounds awesome and so does the BOV, especially for only being 3 psi. but yea hopefully ill get the dp done tomarrow and get rid of the lawn mower sound. wish me luck.

Nice work. Now lets see some pics of this rigged setup! :sneaky:

not now, too embarrassed LOL! when i get a down pipe that isnt being held on by a clamp ill show you guys some pics ROFL

well, just as i suspected, as soon as i got a CEL(from the front o2 sensor not being plugged in) the car started running smooth at part throttle instead of how shitty it was before. also, instead of dying from the vac leak, now it just idles at like 2k sometimes. the vac leak is very tempermental, sometimes at idle vac will drop to 10 inch/hg and other times its at like 15-17. its weird im not sure whats up with it. but the turbo is so damn loud i can hear it over my open downpipe LOL.

can u feel a noticeable difference in power?..

not huge but it definatly pulls harder on the top end, but im not spooling very fast because i got major leaks coming from the manifold to turbo connection. i gotta fix that and i think it will pull much harder. i drove around all night LOL the turbo just screams and the BOV is so nice.... :D :D :D

Hey GS, what BOV do you have? My Greddy Type-S is barely noticable. The spooling sound is louder :|
