You'd be surprised how much tuning plays a factor in the reliability of stock internals in ANY car... A guy I know with a 91' Galant VR-4 (username: turbowop, or www.ten-fifty-one.com) is running his 6-bolt with stock block and head, balance shafts removed, ARP headstuds, Mitsu MLS Headgasket, FP3052 turbo, 780cc injectors, HKS 272 cams, Magnus SMIM, and FMIC tuning with DSMLink running 11s @ 32lbs of boost at the track with two counts of knock or less!! I know he was running that much because he was using my allen tool to change the boost on his MBC! Granted he's not completely stock and it's comparing apples to oranges, 4G63 to 420A, blah, blah, blah... But he's still running very little mods to the inside of the engine and running a shit ton of power. And how can he do that? Extreme attention to detail when it comes to the tuning done on his car!
actually they are 8.8:1 weiseco's with the new sexy coating on the skirts.
, you had me jaw dropped for a sec, not that tuning with 10:5:1 on a turbo motor is completely un heard of, but 8:8:1, just sounds a little more realistic at 20+psi.
