a/f gauge dont move stays at rich

ok i hooked my a/f gauge up to day and it has 1 bar that stay at the bottom of rich and never moves

things i think it could be

crapy o2 senser i need to repalce wires look pretty bad on it
not geting alot of volts to the gauge i hooked it up and it looks pretty dim

thats about all i can think off i hooked it to pin 4 of the big conector on the ecu in my 1g fwd 5spd tsi thanks for the help

probably because its inaccurate and a peice of junk. A/f gauges are mostly for show, they really don't do much except give people seizures or make the passenger say hey whats with the flashy lights? although yours isn't flashing all different colors, so maybe your lucky.

What did you use to connect the wire to the o2 sensor? I had the same problem and I checked my connection and sure enough I wasn't having any sort of metal to metal connection when I crimped the wires together.

exactly what happened to me, just re-check the connection. as for the accuracy of them mine is all over the place b/c i have a huge fuel problem im trying to fix but my friend has the exact same gauge as me but his is pretty accuate in telling him how his fuel is doing. i took his car out for a drive the other day after fixing it and was cruising at 1/2 throttle and the gauge was still at dead center led. so i dont know, its just my .02$

its a wire form a fog light were did you conect o2 wire

Another possibility is that your O2 sensor is dead.

Unless its a wideband AF gauge, Im willing to bet its not as accurate as you think. Maybe close, but I wouldn't get worried when its not right, and definitly not use it for ANY kind of tuning...

why would you connect it to a fog light? unless i misunderstood that, i connected all of mine at the ecu. the signal wire is a white wire on the 4th plug of the ecu (with your left ear pointing towards the floor mat 1 is the lowest one and 4 is the top most one) the pins on the 4th one start at #71 (top left) and you connect it to wire in pin 76. ill try to find the write-up on that.

i think the poster used a wire that was from the fog light to connect it...unless they actually hooked it to the fog light....

i just realized that you have a 1g, then im not sure if the wiring is the same as the 2g but you should try to find where its connected

Check your connections to this. This will guide you to your installation troubles. Like I said before, make sure your connections are getting the proper metal to metal connection.

no i used the wire from a fog light i had laying around they were new wires and i hooked the a/f gauge to pin 4 in the ecu power i grounded to a bolt on the side around were the ecu is and power i hooked in to a fuse it lights up but just dont move no techno lights show i dont car if it acruet i just want to kinda know whats going on
