2G 97 rs swap to 97 spyder

Ok so iv tried to search my question but im working with limited information please forgive me.
My wife has a 97 eclipse rs she paid 500 for and i have dumped abalmost another grand into to be road worthy. Now i have found a 97 spyder for 450 that the timing belt had broke on. I am waiting for more information on it but is it possible to swap my wifes motor to the spyder. I have no idea if it has a turbo or what the deal is. Im not worried about the work that would have to be done cause i love to work on cars but if it would be easier to fix the spyder i would try it or if it would cost more than say 3000 to swap motors. I am army so my time is in abundance. Thank you for your input in advance.

The eclipse RS has the Chrysler 420a engine the spyder will have a Mitsubishi engine that is orientated opposite of the Chrysler engine so it is not a direct swap.

All spyders have the timing belt on the drivers side The spyder GS has a 4g64 and the GST has a 4g63

What's wrong with the RS? You can't swap, well you can but it would probably end up costing you more than what you anticipated. Maybe you can search and see if you can find an engine for the Spyder, after finding out which engine it is. If time is not a problem fix both of them

The Spyder only came as GS or GS-T. However, many people have done the AWD swap on the spyder GST.

Ok so now my wifes car is being a pain in my ass i put trans fluid in and now the car will start run good for about ten seconds then the Rpms drop and it will knock then die i can start it back up and it will do it over and over anyone know what is wrong i know i probably should have started a new thread

So more info on the spyder it is a gs so the 4g64

I don't know why trans fluid would make your car die but check the basics, that doesn't sound like a tranny problem...sounds like your losing spark or fuel.

Ok so figured out what the problem was when i replaced the radiator 2 weeks i put water in it as a temporary till i could get antifreeze well i have a habit of letting the car idle for awhile like when im on lunch ill sit in the car well the water had almost completely evaporated and the car was getting hot and shutting itself off so i put coolant in and now it is fine so lesson learned is check all fluids atleast once a week at min every two weeks
