97 gsx limp/safe mode

So i found this gsx for sale the guy posted that it was in limp/safe mode and wont go over 25 mph, this is an auto btw. So he checked the cel code and returned that it said that its throwing codes for the cam sensor. But he thinks its because of a blown head gasket, he is also asking only 1700 for the whole car. So i dont know to much about the 4g63's as my venge has the 420a, so my question is is what is the problem, would this car be a waste of my time and money to buy or possibly a cheap easy fix. Thanks for any help.

There are many many different things that could be wrong with it. Hard for someone on here to tell you exactly is wrong with it without knowing any symptom other than it won't go over 25mph. Go drive it and see what it does.

Is it limited at 25mph due to the tranny not shifting or due to the engine not pulling?

I would go drive it but its about 4 hour drive from where i live, so if i do get it, it will have to be trailered back.

Sounds like the seller has no idea what is wrong with it and THINKS he knows. If he truly knew what was wrong with it he would probably of fixed it and sold it for much more. Don't rule anything out based on what you were told by someone selling a car.

I was also thinking this either unplugged or broken/fried, the cel code he gets says cam sensor, so maybe the 2 are linked together to throw the same code.

So i found some more info on the car, he says it keeps overheating, and has a rebuilt title which explains why its so cheap
