okay when i turn the key i hear the starter relay click but nothing else happens. i also tried to leave the key in the on position and run a wire from the sylinoid to the battery to see what it would do and it cranked up. so im thinking it has a dead wire somewhere. anyone have any info on how to check this out?

so if its bad and i unplug it, it should start?

i unplugged it and still no start.

the guy who i bought the car from didnt even have the starter relay pulgged in! i found the relay in the backseat floorboard :ohdamn:.i plugged it in and she cranked right up:hellyeah:

Can someone please post a picture of where the starter relay is? Or could someone post a actually picture of the relay (prongs face upward).

When I turn my key I here a relay click but its coming from the the fuse box inside the car. Any help please?

What do you mean? Found the connector and had to wire it back in? Or just had to plug it in and put the connector was still attached?

I’m currently trying to locate the starter relay connector. I have a 2g here that got torn down and reassembled by someone else.

Does anyone know where the starter relay connector come from?

Sorry for digging up an old thread.

I found the B57 relay in the manual. I replaced this relay and my 98 GST still doesn't start. I ended up jumping two pins to close the circuit and it starts.

Initially the jumper was added to close the relay (picture 1) but I moved the jumper to replace the relay entirely (picture 2) because it kept falling out.

Is there any long term damage that could occur from my jumper solution? I would like to fix it properly.

What could possible be the issue, a bad wire somewhere on the harness? Where do I begin diagnosing this?

I having a brain freeze because it looks like you jumpered/bypassed this two different ways.

I'm assuming a Manual trans without theft alarm since you don't have a profile for the vehicle yet.

Connecting the large Black/Red wire on pin 4 with the large Black/Yellow wire on pin 3 will route the signal from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid. Since both pins 2 and 4 have the same Black/Red wires I can't tell if you using the "correct" one but that shouldn't matter since the are common.

What you did with the jumper wire with the relay installed should have popped a fuse or melted something since you ran 12v from the ignition switch to ground (the Green/Black wire).
