97 Eclipse gs . What Swap can i do?

sup , im new to this forum and everything, i was just wondering i just fixed the outside of my eclipse nicely, got a bmx kit on it, carbon fiber hood, halo headlights, slr fenders. and i mean the outside is mint but the car is slow what would you recommend me to do?

Check out some of the other N/T owners and their mod's list, found under their vehicle profile (you can find a lot of the 2g N/T owners under the 2G Non Turbo bolt on's forum), get an idea of the kind of parts you'll want to look forward to. Also there is a tech guide on this site (under power upgrades) choose your particular model... that should help you out

ooo, because personally i dont that much about dsm , i was more into hondas before, but my civic got stolen i had a 00 coupe with ls v-tec turbo pushin 330hp @7psi. well i jsut want my eclipse to get into that range.

Not with your N/T you won't. Unless you turbo it, and there's no direct swap for the N/T models.

a mod will probably move this later on so don't worry about it. As far as mods go there are turbo kits offered for our 420a engine which are direct bolt ons and you will see impressive gains from them (about 50% increase with a stage 2 kit). If you want to stay N/A it is very unlikely that you will even hit 200whp and it will be extremely expensive. You probably will want to boost though so just search for Star turbokit or Hahn turbokit since those are most popular for our models.

Anywho, yea they are slow as crap. The turbo kits, which is what most people get to get their car going faster, aren't very cheap. Only 2 companies I know of make them, Star and Bill Hahn of Hahn Racecraft, and they will run you over 2000 dollars. If I were you, I'd just keep it looking nice.

This isn't a honda with a million engine swaps. Like others said you have to turbo it to get any real gains.

why would you bother putting a vtec head on an LS block, everyone knows the few hondas that you do turbo have major issues running vtec and a turbo. The LS is a great motor to turbo just because you don't have to deal with the vtecd. As for an engine swap it not worth it, dsms beg for turbos... going n/a is going to cost you more for less.

why would you bother putting a vtec head on an LS block, everyone knows the few hondas that you do turbo have major issues running vtec and a turbo. The LS is a great motor to turbo just because you don't have to deal with the vtecd. As for an engine swap it not worth it, dsms beg for turbos... going n/a is going to cost you more for less.

Actually I have had a turbo vtec Civic. Turbo and vtec work fine with each other. That is just a mith lazy people who don't want to tune use.

i didnt say that vtec couldnt be run with a turbo, my best friend has a turbo b18C in his GSR... i just said they dont mix well, vtec likes very high compression (why most hondas perform better all motor) and turbos like low compression, i was just curious why you took the time to put a vtec head on an LS motor if you knew it was going to be turbo... i was just curious, maybe you knew something i didnt about how to make them perform well together....

Agreed. and check the VFAQ for answers. The GS/RS versions of the 2g's only have one engine that can possibly go into it and that is a 420a. And without a turbo kit or Nitrous and the supporting mods, you won't make big numbers.

VTEC is essentially just 2 cam profiles on one cam. It uses a less aggressive profiles at lower rpms, and switches to a more aggressive one at higher rpms. The activation point is a static number, it doesn't change. It does mix just fine with a turbo. The people that say it doesn't don't know how to tune.

Why LSVTEC? Good bottom end tq(for a honda, anyway), and good top end with the more aggressive profile.

Don't listen to 90% of what you rear on HT and H-A...most honda owners don't know what they're talking about.
