once again. if you want to spend your money on this car take it to a respected dsm shop and tell them what you want. then sit down with them and run up a bill. if its too much then try another, but if not then write them a check and pick your car up when its done.

That would be awesome! A turbocharged 6 cylinder in a '90 DAMNNN!!
Add a 75 shot of nitrous and imagine how fast that thing will go!

Any replies welcome!
Thanks for the good comments ppl!

the v6 mitsubishi motor may not be your best bet for an engine swap..but i'm not to sure on the subject. if you really want to keep it all mitsubishi then yeah that's what i'd do. otherwise maybe a h22 (jspec prelude), or a domestic v8 (if you don't mind spending the money to make it fit). and then turbo-ing either of those. you could prolly buy the engine, have it totally rebuilt using performance parts, get a tranny that would fit with it and have theat rebuilt also, custom turbo, and a 100 shot of nitrous.....that would be one of a kind and i think very possible with $16g.

like someone mentioned tho, go to a local performance shop and see what they think they could do. with that kind of money tho, i'd scrap the stock engine all together and start with something more powerful to begin with. :thumb:

hey man, you have 16k and a n/a 1g....
wow, sweet deal dude...
i'd agree with the first few posts... make it a sleeper...
put some lightweight rims on it, and blow the rest on a performance engine build... If you can, find a 2.4L and turbo that...
bigger engine means bigger torque.... oh, and don't put a ricer pipe on... go with something like a burschur racing 3" turbo-back system...

anyway, these are just my ideas....
oh yeah, and remeber, when you're choosing a colour, don't pick somethign super bright and flashy, cops love to pick on ppl with bright flashy cars...

if I had 16 grand Id buy some of the sweet ass 2Gs that are up on the block and save myself the work.

with that kind of money I would have no idea where to start but you can basically do what ever you want, first things first.... I'd be sure the car was in the condition to handle any and all mods done to it.

Besta luck

I'd rather stick with the 1g. I can't help it though I already know I'm gonna paint it black, very shinny black, the guy told me he was gonna have to paint it twice to achieve a nice shine. I dont worry too much about the engine not handling it good cuz I just want to rebuild it with forged parts and change the tranny and everything.

not to sound "ignorant" but i think racer-x and cucumber are right. If you do a swap or conversion its gonna cost more than just selling that one and buying a awd.

Now if you can't find one than i would go that rout but i would definetly look for 1g awd turbo

For like the third time the guy doesn't have a 420a and this thread has nothing to do w/ a 420a.

Now back to the point. If you dump 16G's into a 1G Eclipse, especially NA FWD, then you will kick your own ass in a couple years when you realize how stupid that was. If you really do have an M3 what could possibly be going through your mind to "waste" money on the 1G when you could do so much to the nice car?

My goosh, the ANGER, the HEAT, the FLAMES I was reading!

Ok, this is just my OPINION on what Geo should do...just an opinion.

OK, if those other cars you are trying to beat AREN'T stock and none of them happen to be an Audi S4 or fixed up A4 Quattro Turbo...I think you should get an awd.
I think if you put any engine you want into that eclipse of yours, you'll still have some problems beating those other cars. You own an M3, don't you love the handling that goes along with the power. It's rear wheel drive man. And the eclipse you have, it's front wheel drive! Now, you are trying to build your car which is FWD to beat those other fixed up RWD German marvels M3s, M5s, and stuff. Okay, lets look at the scenarios you might be racing in. Going straight.. you already have traction problems, I don't care if your car has more horsepower than all those cars combined, you'll be burning off your tires. You have a small chance of beating them. On the track, your car will just understeer and loose control or you'll be going way too slow on the turn to maintain control and can't keep up. You like taking corners in your beemer right? Your FWD eclipse won't handle anything close to it.
If those cars are stock, then you might be able to beat them. Only, and only if you are at a the drag strip. If you are on the street, have to take turns, brake, speed up, you better make sure you have plenty of room for you turbo to spool up and there is no cars, no stop lights within a good distance, nothing in front for you or you won't be able to beat them. Or you might win...but then again... someone might just inherit your beemer if you make a mistake or turn too fast. Turbo is nothing like the instant torque you feel in your M3. It needs to spool up. It takes time. When it does, you'll just be burning your tires off and won't move very far until the tire grips to the sh!ty road. If you want to beat them in your fwd eclipse, it must be on the track and be reduced to about 1200lbs. But I think you are trying to beat them on the streets. So...AWD is the way to go.
The only way I think you can make those rich cocky owners feel bad after losing to your almighty DSM would be to be ahead of them from start to finish. Don't it rain in Maimi? Now, if you sold your FWD and got an AWD(1g, 2g, don't matter) you can beat those guys dry or wet. Now you may like the torquey feeling of your beemer off the line but once you feel a DSM AWD launch, you might just consider selling your beemer and investing solely on your AWD DSM. Handling wise, awd can out handle your beemer anyday. Yes, even in the snow! If you really want to see those guys drop there mouth with there eyes wide open in awh from start to finish cause they lost to a four-banger DSM, sell your fwd and get an awd. Race in the Miami sun...or in the pooring rain, you'll beat the crap out of them. :thumb:

Insurance: AWD Turbo too costly, no problem, sell your costly $437 beemer and you have no problems because the DSM will only be like $250! You save $$$.

P.S. If a fixed up S4 just happens to be one of the cars you are trying to beat, GOOD LUCK. I don't think DSM have a chance against those cars. But hey, if we had two extra cylinders on our cars, we would be able to beat them for sure. :p

You got me to another point there. I asked if can swap any 6 cylinder engine in my 1g DSM, maybe a 2000 GT engine and nobody answered. The other thing is that here in Miami you won't see too many fixed up BM's and Mercedes. Someone actually asked me why I didn't spend that money on my M3, come on I get enough respect in it as it is.

The other $1,000,000 question is; Can i get a limited slip differential for this DSM or not?

I've been told way too many times to get an AWD so i guess that's what I'll do and start from there cuz I know it'll be way better.

if someone know any good performance install place here in miami please let me know. I was counting on Blitz but I've heard some bad thing about it. I gotta try HP Motorsports and see.

There you go Geo. You start with the right car and build from there. The AWD Turbo is a great starting point. No custom job and no fabrications. "Never give up handling and control for performance and speed." I think Porsche said something like that.

That's what a Beemer is, a BMW motorcycle? Cool, I didn't know that. Here in CA, BMWs are refered to as "Beemers." I guess someone made the mistake of calling a BMW a "beemer" and no one knew it was for a motorcycle and the name just got stuck to it ever since.

I see your begining to see an awd is the way to go, Do that and you will have much more scratch to play with. And insurance cant be too much. Get your self a first gen AWD and go to town! I spent 70 bucks and I hit 14.5 on my 1/4! Not to bad.

hey guys what do think of droping a 270 hp Evolution engine? It's gonna be too costly to make it fit right?

it could easily be done for 16 grand, probably a lot less actually, i haven't looked up the cost of the motor, but importing the motor all costs said and done would probably be like 6k max, cause these motors aren't as common as say a b-series honda motor. Then to get it installed would probably only be another 3-4 max. only that much because of the custom work necessary. While buying the motor you might as well buy any drivetrain components too if you can get them, tranny, awd system, although the awd is as essential because you could easily find those here in the states. I bet you could do the total project for about 12, would be my best guess. Like i said, I haven't seen prices for these engines and it would be custom work so this is just the best guess off the top of my head but if you got 16, that leaves you 4 grand to work on looks and even upgrade the turbo and it's components some if you want.

Don't whimp out and buy a turbo car. Be unique and build what you have. Lots of great ideas here already. Only losers that are not mechanical buy turbo cars, the real tuners start from scratch!!

It's kinda true but I know it will be way better if it's an AWD

Nobody who has $16k in the bank owns a 1G NT...Get a life buddy and stop trying to impress people..loser
