2G 96 GSX doesn't crank

I have a problem with my 96 Eclipse GSX. The car doesn't crank, it's has brand new battery and Alternator. I'm not sure if it's the starter is bad or something else I pushed start it today and it drove fine !!

I'd recommend pulling the starter and getting it tested and go from there

If this problem suddenly started check the clutch safety switch if you have one. Grounds could be the cause also.if it was fine before the new battery check your grounds.

It is really easy to bench test a starter motor but kind of a pain to get it out (easiest from the bottom if on a lift). Might be worth a little time to test that. What happens when you turn the key, nothing?

I have a video but Idk how to upload it from my phone and yes this happened suddenly and the switch for the clutch is off cuz I always turn on the car without pressing the clutch

It making a drill noise from the back every time I try to start it

From the back of the car or back of the motor, sounds like your starter stripped its teeth or missing the flywheel.

It doesn't even click !
I guess I will pull the starter and go from there

Well it would click if the starter simply didnt have the power to spin the motor, if the teeth got tore off it would just spin feely and could sound like a spinning drill that's why I asked if it was from the back of the motor or the back of the car

If it doesn't crank and it turns over when you push start it I would test the starter. If the starter just makes a clicking noise double check you grounds and or clean battery terminals.

I changed the starter and that solved the problem I was just scare it could be something else thanks guys
