I am in the process of building a 95 talon to race at one of the three local asphalt circle tracks in my area. Last year I raced a probe and it's the car to beat because of the width and handling of the car even though it has a lot less HP than the Nissan and neon. No one has tried to run a talon and I'm very excited to prove it will work even though there are a lot of nay sayers.
The roll cage is almost complete (6PT cage) and the rear strut towers I tied into the roll cage. when thats done I'll be working on the suspension. this could be a challenge (no coil overs track rules). the only other rule is 4.5"min. of ground clearance.
Your not supposed modify your engine but everyone does. I was planning on porting and Polish my intake manifold and opening up my exhaust followed by a Dino run and air/fuel mixture adjustment. I did this to the probe and gained 14hp but saw a 19hp gain when i put different cams on.
I hope to post some pictures as I make more progress. Any ideas, comments, suggestions I'm open to this is my first attempt at a forum and hope I'm not doing about this wrong.
