95 Eagle talon tsi Doesnt Start

I just picked up a 1995 eagle talon for $800 , Clean title with 56,000 og miles , The previous owner had told me that the car has a t3/t4 turbo and xs manifold ,fuel system upgraded , 3in all the way back . originally he told me it had a bent valve and that it runs , so he tried to start it up and it sounded mean like a bomb went off in the engine , welll it was bad making alot of noises it woouldtn start . So idk what that could be , he said the block was bored over .20 with je pistons and eagle rods . now he gave me some receipts with the car also and i noticed that he bought some rods from a 6bolt and put it on . can it be the rods that shot out

start by draining the oil. look for metal flakes like glitter. after that, look at the block and feel around on the back under the intake if you think it threw a rod. then look at spark plugs. they tell the story about the engines life since they've been in there. if you can, run a compression test or a leak down test. that'll tell you if there is any loss of compression whether its through the intake, exhaust or through the valve cover. you can also pull the ecu out to check out the board. these are known for capacitors leaking which will cause a no start or stalling issues. if you have a code reader then tun that to. test all those and let us know what you get

Before you try the compression test, verify that timing is accurate. Not just at the cams, but crank as well. This will also be a check to see if the engine will turn over by hand.

OK definitely needs a new motor , I didn't know they made Talons turbo diesel ha , OK now would it be best to rebuild the same block ? And I'm going to have to take the head and see if that has any bent valves etc. What would the best option be . I'm looking to daily this and be pushing close to 500 also but I know I'm gonna have to get supporting mods for it . This is actually my first time owning a talon , so somewhat new to the turbos . I need your guy's opinions to help improve on my knowledge

They did not make diesel talons , and consider doing a 6 bolt swap. 500hp is a lot but with proper maintenance it can be done. good luck

OK I lied , I opened it up and I could not be happier , the noise was actually from the flywheel all of the bolts were Loose !!! the engine has brand new pistons and rods also a crank . And by the looks of it the engine was blueprinted , the crank was balanced so tomorrow I'm going to check to see how the bearings are , so wish me luck

there isn't really a reason to put a 6 bolt engine in. when 6 bolts were only made for 2.5 years. rebuild the 7 bolt. if anything, get a 97.5-99 7 bolt. the only advantage you get from a 6 bolt is stronger stock rods and slightly stronger crank. stock the 6 bolt will make more power stock than a 7 bolt. but what good reason is it to swap? some good rods and pistons will allow you to make 500 hp and daily it. just make sure pistons don't have alot of heat expansion like manley does. wiseco and mahle are good brands. and scat rods are decently priced. with them you have the possibility to make more power in the future to.

What do you think about the 7 bolt I have in it ? I mean it's bored .20 over it has 85.5mm je pistons and h beam eagle rods .how do you think that will hold up. i'm also doubting the rods because I found the reciept the guy gave me and it said that its for a 6bolt . That's why one of my questions are if they are compatible with the 7bolt so I can just change it now instead of having a catastrophic failure . And also it has the balance shaft delete. Just trying to get info as this is my first time owning a Dsm or rather a turbo car .
