i was told that i need a new motor and what not. i drove to manchester and back to west lebanon new hampshire. it was fine. the next morning i went to go to school and it wouldnt start. My timing is off by a degree a two and im told that i have no compression in any of my cylinders. i dont have a good spark i think that maybe i need a distributor ?. PLEASE!!!!! help i love this car i dont want to get rid of it. any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

WOW!

so you drove it but you have no compression. and i can assure you that you dont need a distributor since our cars dont have one.

1-2 degrees of ignition timing arent going to be a serious problem and if someone told you your engine timing was off by a degree or two they are likely lying or dont know what they are talking about. i think each tooth counts for something like 13* of timing which would cause your valves to hit your pistons.

now if you timing belt skipped a tooth and you bent all your valves then you would have 0 compression since all your valves are bent

it seems like you dont know too much about your car. do you have a knowledgeable friend who could help you out?

Our cars don't have a distributor we have coil packs, one that fires cylinders 4 & 1 and the other fires 2 & 3. With that being said if one goes bad you just won't have spark on 2 cylinders... 4 & 1 or 2 & 3.

You timing belt could have very well skipped a tooth or two, if it skips three your going to bend valves. If it skips one tooth it will idle and sound fine but normal cruise and WOT it will feel like you've got no power and it will hesistate/misfire. If it skips two teeth it will sound like ass at idle and definitely SHOULD NOT be driven but the car will start and idle. If you jump three teeth like I said before your bending valves and the car won't idle or even start if you have zero compression...

Who told you and ASSUMED you have no compression and that your timings off? I say assumed because it doesn't sound like they checked they just guessed. Do an actual compression check and do it by the book... Download The 2g Manual

haha yeah i wasnt 100% sure if it was a coil pack or distributor. thank you both for the knowledge. it really means a lot. i want to save this car. if the internals are screwed and whatnot im thinking about a 2.3l stroker kit. the kid that had this car before me was a retard. he had no idea what the hell he was doing. if you know anyone in new hampshire or if you come up here let me know LOL.
