I'm doing a engine head rebuilt. I already got a new head gasket, and a valve cover gasket. Intake, exhaust manifold gaskets are in a good condition so should i replace them anyways?

oh and should i get new head bolts too?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you

I would do ARP head studs, they will make more out of your head gasket..
I would also change the intake gasket, dont really want to reuse that.. the exhaust gasket i have reused quite a few times, so you should be ok there!

It is a good idea to replace both exhaust and intake manifold gasket when doing a rebuild. And definitely replace the head bolts with ARP.

Why are you rebuilding the head?
Get arp head studs and the stock composite headgasket. Replace all gaskets dont reuse them. Might want to look into getting a new timing belt kit(T.belt, water pump, balance shaft belt, idler, etc.

This is my first dsm, the previous owner told me that the head gasket went and the antifreeze was leaking through the exhaust valves. The car started but it would misfire really bad

I took the head out and the first thing i want to do is to get it resurfaced, then ill get the valves checked.

Any tips would help thanks again

The car has 168k on the clock btw

Check your timing marks... I highly recommend doing a timing belt job on this car to. Have the shop check the head for warpage and bent valves. Also check the block for warpage. Use a striaght edge. Are the timing marks on the cam gears lined up striaght? Was this car stock when you got it? If the previous owner blew a head gsket theres a possibiliy that other things are broke. How do your pistons look? Are ther marks on them from valves hitting them?

The timing belt looks brand new cause it was replaced not long ago. I was supposed to replace the piston rings but the cylinder walls seem like new, and the pistons are pretty good too. I need to take the head apart further so i could take a look at the valves.

My dad keeps telling me that he would reuse the head bolts all the time and it was always fine, what if ill run higher boost...

The car is mechanically stock except for the recirculated turbo xs bov.
