2G 95-96 97-99 interior harness interchange

Im pretty sure I just found out that 95-96 97-99 interior harnesses are different. I went to connect the connectors near the fuel sending unit, the black connector beside the gas tank on the 97 GSX is an 8 pin, while the other connector on my 95-96 harness is a 6 pin....can anyone confirm this and make sure Im not missing something?

Is that a year difference, or a GST/GSX difference?

year difference, both harnesses are from a gsx. one being from a 96, the car is a 97 gsx
