Ok so bought a 93 talon 2.0 n/a got it all stripped down to the block. I'm redoing the timing and all the components. Also doing the balance shaft elimination. Well I got to buy new head bolts and they wont even fit in the holes. The Bolts I pulled out of the head are 12 point and the ones i bought are a 6point hex. Also wondering if its 95+ 4g63 what other parts wont fit? Everything on the timing is new.

:banghead:

Get some stock bolts they should fit.

I did for a 93 and those are the ones that were to big. I ordered stock head bolts for the 95 block so I'm going to go from there. I just hope all the rest of the parts fit, I know over the years some things changed so crossing my fingers.

Sounds like you got 6-bolt head bolts when you need 7-bolt head bolts. 7-bolt head bolts would be correct for the original engine in a 1993.

You'll be fine with those you've ordered for the '95 because they are the same for all 7-bolts.

Makes sense now LOL. What a surprise that Pepboys wouldn't have the difference in motors correct. :aha:

BTW thank you!

7 bolt are also torque to yield. Read up on proper torque spec procedures.

2. Loosen all bolts completely to 0 ft-lbs
3. Torque all bolts to 15 ft-lbs in order
4. Tighten all bolt 1/4 turn in order
5. Tighten all bolts an additional 1/4 turn in order.
