91 Talon, Good Buy?

I just bought my very first car today, a 91 Eagle Talon. It's burgundy. No rust. 198,000k on it. 5 speed standard, car has never been over 100 kilometers an hour, has one tennis ball sized dent. Needs fuel pump and has a dented rim. Bought for 1000$ flat of a guy. I just wanted to no from what I know if it was a good buy or not? I hope it was, I really love this car.

Sounds like you got a good deal.

I'd advise you to seafoam the car since it sounds to me like it was babied all the time. Theres probably a bunch of carbon build up on the valves. It'll run a lot smoother afterwards.

A word from the wise as well......If your engine bay looks really, REALLY dirty, It was obviously neglected. It's a clear sign your in for alot of work. You'll have alot of these days =

But for 1000 beans, It's a risk.

Talk about there must be a million things that need to be replaced. I guarantee it is leaking oil from somewhere and your halfshaft boots are probably ripped and your ball joints are on their way out if not completely shot if they are stock from when the car was made.

Now is the time to learn how to work on cars I guess or sell it to a dsmer that will take care of it. You planning on driving it durning the winter? If so sell it to me so you don't destroy it.

sounds good to me man, but a '91 with nearly 200k miles you NEED to be sure everything is good on it before you trust it to much..get it FULLY checked out, all the general maintenance, fluids, belts, joints, etc.

NO leaks. NO winter driving. Its super, super clean. Im not selling it to anyone.

For all you serious people out there. The guy asked if he got a good deal on a car that he didnt post any pics of, how are you suppose to tell. Im not sure how much Daniel_H knows about cars, but considering he is from canada i would take a look under the car by the subframes for rust etc...... you might be surprised. Also buying a dsm and having no idea of previous repairs = timing belt asap which then = might as well pull the b-shafts.

I know my fair share about cars. There is no, and I promise you, no rust on this car. It was been babied and stored. I do have pictures up. It is CLEAN. Hate the haters.
