1G 90 dsm leaking capacitors on 2 ecu in 1 day

Well the title says it all, it's not my car but a friend's car. It's a 90 talon tsi fwd, he was driving yesterday and suddenly his car stalled and there was a bad smell. He found that his ecu had a leaking capacitors and burned few thing on the board. he searched in his dsm parts and found another ecu with the same number so he installed it and started the engine the car ran about 2 minutes before the bad smell came again. he shut off his engine and check his ecu, same capacitor was leaking again and started to burn the board too. WTF is happening??? coincidence or something make the capacitors to leak, what can cause this??

It sounds like he has a bad isc in the throttle body. They can burn out the driver in the ecu. Can you post pics?
