Okay so I am in the process of getting my -8AN feed line bung welded on the sending unit in place of the old kinked up line, now, who can help me find the right fittings to keep from having clearance issues on the the top of the sending unit and still being able to utilize the cover under the seat. From what I have read, I need a 90* elbow and an adapter from that to reuse the stock fuel line (just until I get the -8AN line installed next month, in which time, I will remove the adapter and just attach directly to the 90*elbow.) I have found the swivel 90* but am not sure that's the best thing for me, shouldn't I be able to use a solid elbow? That is where I am stumped, cant seem to find the right ones. I know tons of people have done this mod, so any quick part numbers or suggestions? And just to answer this question ahead of time, the reason for the -8AN is for future mods without another weld job, so I do understand it is WAY over kill right now, but it is just the way I am going with it

What you want to be concerned with is the placement of the 8AN fitting when welding, specifically you don't want the 8AN fitting "sitting too high" on top of the assembly as that will surely cause a clearance issue.

Here's a thread showing what I mean. In it the OP ran into the issue you're trying to avoid, notice the difference in the OP's setup and my setup: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bol...ro-450-fuel-pump-install-modified-sender.html

Thank you for the link! I was so tired from searching yesterday I must have just looked over it. Your setup looks pretty straight forward and easy, leaving the internal part of the fuel pump alone. I have two more quick questions for you:

1)Does leaving the stock tube inside the pump defeat the fuel flow capabilities of welding the -8AN fitting above it? I just ask because the stock tube size is much smaller where the pump actually sticks in there.

2) What brand weld-in bungs did you use to keep that "lower profile" which I am assuming fixed all the clearance issues the other gentlemen was having. I REALLY don't want to cut any sheet metal just to clear a fitting. Any part numbers or links would be awesome, but I understand if you don't have them.

You're welcome.

To answer your questions I've yet to run this setup since I had the 8AN fittings welded on top. Actually the only reason it was done when it was is because I pulled my engine so the engine bay could be painted and I used that downtime to get the pump assembly modified. Also I don't know the brand of 8AN fitting that was used by my fabricator but I could ask him to find out if he knows. From looking at that thread I linked you to I see I'm very fortunate my fabricator welded the fittings in deep the way he did. I shouldn't have any clearance issue BUT I can't say for certain because I haven't bought any elbow or tube fittings as of yet. When I do I will definitely come back and update this with pics.

Well, sounds like I'm just going to dive into it and get it done, I will also take pictures and post them up when I am finished, wish me luck on clearance issues, I unfortunately live in Alaska, and there isn't really any stores around me where I can just browse through AN fittings, I will have to just buy online and keep my fingers crossed.
