8 bolt flywheel?

Ok so me being the cheap skate that I am I've called vatozone and ho'reilly for a reman crank. Just to see the prices they had on them Well they're both telling me there's options for an 8 bolt crank!?

So I got online and put in 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse gsx awd turbo 2.0 and then found options for cranks. Sure enough there are options for an 8 bolt crank.

Can someone, or anyone please explain this? I thought I had heard a lot of crazy stuff when people try and talk to me about a dsm, but this....this is whacked.

Is there a 4g63t that came with an 8 bolt crank?
Is it a non-turbo crank?

I'm just baffled, lost, and confused. I searched and have not found anything here on it. Now i'm off to google to see if I can turn up anything

Ok, I think i've found that the crank is for an N/A.

But the site clearly state's "For your 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.0L MFI Turbo DOHC 4cyl"

That's a stock image. The crank pictured is truely not for our car.

Wll both those parts stores hire burger flippers who can not tell a camshaft from a crank shaft..

So what they did is punch it up and told you what the screen said.

Now who knows how many times the program they use has been translated into how many diffrent languages. Just some things get lost in the trnslation when it is done over in India.

Now do not some 7 bolt cranks also have an alignment dowel in them? There is the 8th bolt hole

I'm sure the image is not correct, lots of people use 1 image for a general use.

I'm still very curious though. Sure the poeple at the stores are not that bright, but when I see it myself, and it's posted online on their site's it makes me wonder...

And there are options for an 8 bolt as well as a 7 bolt. No 6 bolt.

I recently bought an auto tensioner from autozone, didn't trust the picture online (they had the 1g and 2g pics backwards). So i matched mine up to the 1g pic and ordered it....it came in to be the wrong part, so I sent it back and got the 2g and it was the right part but still pictured wrong online. So i'm sure the description is more accurate than the actual picture.

But why does it offer that? I'm still curious, is there an 8 bolt crank out there? Is it positively for sure the N/A crank?

I bought that rebuild crankshaft just to save money on my first build..

Everything was mic, plastigauge, lubed, and torqued properly.

I have to admit i've been throwing the idea around just because i'm really anxious to get her back on the road, but in all honesty I really, really don't want to go this route.

My main question is just why is there an 8 bolt crank?
