I just purchased my first DMS project. scored a very clean burnt orange AWD 91 with no motor for $200, the guy i bought it from pulled the 6 bolt to drop it in his 94. Question is, will i be able to drop the 7 bolt from his 94 into my 91 without running into any issues? Also, he has done ABS delete. BUT its half done and missing shit to complete. if anyone has a quick link t a DIY for the ABS delete that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for the help!

well crap

if anyone knows where to dig up information on how to do it that would be fantastic. i can deal with a bit of a challenge and save a few hundred bucks! :)

I don't generally like to comment on things i don't have personal experience with but yes the 94 7 bolt will bolt in to your car without much modification. All you should need is the motor and a 7 bolt awd flywheel. The 94 7 bolt is a 1g 7 bolt so it has the same bellhousing pattern as a 6 bolt. They both even have the same intake both use a cas and both use the same large runner head only the 7bolt head has 11mm head bolts like the later 7 bolt engines.

You are starting from scratch anyway, might as well eliminate the 7 bolt issues. car Plenty of need out there for a 7 bolt motor cause they are crap. Shpuld be easy to sell. 6 bolt is the way to go unless its an evo motor. they are different. ### motors are way better , only because they sent to the US sub par blocks to assemble the 2g motors. And wrong specs. 6 bolt goes in that car dont fight it.

with all due respect sr20detkilr7, Your right i am starting from scratch. but im getting the 7 bolt for free, and despite the hype about crankwalk, I can build the 7 bolt to cope with those issues. Im not saying that its ever going to completely get rid with them, but having a low mileage 7 bolt as a free base to rebuild is hard to pass :) i would rather do whats needed to make it work, then try to source a 6 bolt and spend the extra $$

I read a forum post a few days back on Supra forums about guys with 2JZ's having crankwalk issues, and there were plenty! Not just here and there's. Everybody and their mom thinks that the 2J is so bad ass, and yes its an amazing platform, but can just as well have the same issues as the 7 bolt!

Nothing wrong with a 7 bolt. The last one I had I drove for 4 years and beat the crap out of it every day. It will also bolt in without issue considering it's from a 94. If it were 95 or newer no dice.
I'm tired of hearing about crankwalk. It's been 23 years since the platform was released. There is 23 years worth of information to be had.

I would just try to get a 6 bolt from a crashed eclipse at a junk yard and sell the 7 bolt. A long block is only $160 at my local junk yard (pick and pull). The six bolt can handle more stress stock letting you buy bolt ons etc...(instead of expensive internals). i'd just throw that 7 bolt on craigslist for $400. LOL you might even profit.

The 94 7 bolt will work fine. I put a 93 7 bolt in one of my 91 GVR4s and I think getting the 7 bolt AWD flywheel (it was a FWD 7 bolt engine) was really the only change I had to make.

And by the way, no "bad" blocks were sent to the US to be assembled into 2Gs. All the engines came fully assembled from the same factory assembly line as the 7 bolt cars built in japan.

To ad to Paul's comment, i have seen more walked 6 bolts than 7 bolts in the past 8 years of working with these cars.

Exactly. Engines and transmissions are 100% Japanese sourced. Says so on your sticker if you still have it.

Worrying about CW is so 90's.

ofcourse getting a 6 bolt is the best and easiest thing. 7 bolts are still dam good platforms IF you build it right, 6 bolts have some crankwalk. 7 bolts have crankwalk. but you have to work with what you have and the money ofcourse is the key. so if you want to build the 7 bolt then that's cool. just do it right the 1st time. and you shouldn't have issues.

Thanks everyone for the input! I have definitely made the decision to build the 7 bolt. it'll be a process but ill take pics and post a build log! cheers!
