Jaysgsx14........... check your PM. You've got some!!

Anyone know this guy, I'm trying to get ahold of him.

Thanks.

The answer is this: No, it cant be done, there simply isnt enough space. But, people with way too much money have been known to do things that "cant be done"...

Anyways, why would you use the 3kGT motor over our 4g63? The 4g63 is obviously a better motor to work from, regardless of how much horsepower they come with stock...

oh no i might get in trouble for updating this old thread .... but ....

and they show the motor at 1:55

Oh wow, this is something i thought would be hard work but after i read the comments on that video, the guy says it fits right in with the vr4 transmission. He only modified one engine mount (but could have used the ones that came with the engine with out any mods, so he says) and used a MegaSquirt ecu. I find it hard to believe there was little modification though, but if its true, hey now there's something to think about when my engine goes kapoot.

....And 6 years later...... Here we go.

With that said....

The 6G72TT engine fits in with a 6G72 bellhousing on a 1GAWD transmission and can be run as a 6G72TT-AWD setup in a 2G DSM with minimal modifications. You need to adjust the motor mounts just a bit as there is a slight offset between the passenger and driver-side mounts. As well, the front and rear mounts take just a little bit of modification.

The JDM 6G72 non-turbo AWD 5-speed transmission is a perfect fit for the 2G DSM with the 6G72TT engine. The transmission is essentially a 1G AWD transmission with a 6G72 bellhousing and a 6G72 non-turbo clutch/flywheel setup. You can pick these transmissions up for really cheap online through JDM importers.

You are also able to fit the twin-turbo setup inside the engine bay without issues. There is also the possibility of running a 16G-sized twin-turbo setup on it, but it will be fairly tight along the firewall. The next key difficulty you will have to deal with is the intercooler piping and running either twin side-mount intercoolers, or a single FMIC. As well, the wiring harness from a 4G63T can be used with add-on wires for O2 and for injectors and coils, or the 6G72 with the 4G63 body harness with a small bit of wiring modification. You can then use a stock 3000GT VR4 ECU, or an AEM EMS with little work, and have full control while using two wideband 02 sensors.

You can also fit in a single-turbo setup pretty easily with some custom exhaust manifold work, and have quite a bit of room to fit a single turbo setup.

This swap is actually more doable than people think, as it only needs a bit of custom work, a good amount of patience and an open mind to see the outcome of a car than could easily run in the low 11's with an AWD drivetrain on mild bolt-on parts with a stock block, cams, heads, etc.

It would be a very stout street car or track car with just a boost controller, exhaust, intakes, and a tuning tool to put down over 400HP. All done in a car that is several hundred pounds lighter than a 3000GT VR-4. Now, put it all in a DSM with some weight reduction, no sunroof, power-steering delete, etc. sitting around 2500-2600#, and you have a serious track car that can be very reliable.

I have a close friend doing this swap right now, and it is really cool to see coming together.

I know this is a very old thread but for research purpose when ppl look up things in search engines and hit this page, this video is a 2.0 6a12tt engine and not a 6g72tt. Further more it is a very hard one to attain the driver side 6A12 twin turbo 2.0 V6 is from the E84 1992 and 1994 Galant VR4 , after that the 6A engine became a passenger side engine. It's very small and compact it's extremely hard to source this engine and transmission combo in this orientation. E series galants E84 and EC5 are pretty much 4 door 2G Eclipse engine bay and suspension wise.

After all that work, I would have relocated the battery to the rear and piped the air intake down and outside of the engine bay. Who wants to suck hot air?
