How do I tell if I have a 6 bolt or a 7 bolt?
Will x part from a 6 bolt fit a 7 bolt?

What is the difference between 6-bolt and 7-bolt engines (aside from the obvious - 6 vs. 7 bolts connecting the flywheel :p )

Is there an advantage over either of the two engines?

buahahah.........dont feel so bad, i only drove mine like 470 miles or so when the timingbelt did the same as yours...
my valves where bent and one was missing half of it.
stupid timing belt decided to take a break while i was doing bout 80 mph on 3rd trying to beat my little brothers integra:cool: ( ithink i won):laugh:
 
I own a 90 laser fwd turbo. The drivetrain is stock(for now). Does anyone know for sure if this is a 6 bolt or 7?

Also what are the advantages of using 2g pistons in a 1g motor, and what has to be done to make this work?
 
ok i own a 94 talon tsi awd and its setting in the garage with a big oil leak and i notice the oil pan dosnt look like the 7 bolt one cuz its rounded not indented. so i took some pics and ill post them tell me what u think.

the way to tell if u have a 6 or 7 bolt engine is to look at the exausht manifold studs, if u have a 6 bolt they will all be 8mm studs all around. if u have a stock head. If u have a seven bolt their will be two 10mm studs on the far ends of the manifold and the rest will be 8mm studs, you all so can tell by the size of the oil pickup too, Looking at the pan is defintely not a good way to tell.
 
ok well im looknig at this 95 tsi awd and it says it has a built by cummins 4g63 in it designed to noit get cw so im wondering if it could be a 6bolt some poeple say you can tell by the cas so i have included two pics of the engine.

im guessing thats a stock 2g -- judging from the intake mani and the fact that its got a stock BOV i/c pipeing. it looks pretty much un-touched sept for the intake
 
so hes lieing about the fully built engine by cummins part or could it be that he just had cummins build his 7 bolt
 
actually now that i think about it those pics are probbaly before he had the engine done because theyre old, and the engine only has 1,000 miles on it and he just put it up for sale soim guessing i need newer pics totell ill ask him to e-mail me some.
 
someone said if it has a cas on the pass side of valve cover its a 6 bolt or a later 7 bolt, im just trying to figure out if this guy is lieing about the swap before i drive two hours and find out he is and then have to whoop his ass.
 
from the pictures there I didn't see a cas on the side of the head, that means its a 95 or 96 7 bolt engine that has the cas/cam sensor down on the crankshaft. Thoes pictures are definatly from a completly stock motor.
 
i need some links, or some general infomation on swaping out a 7bolt Eagle Talon FWD to a 6 BOLT what do i need ext. if there is a link please help.
