Can I put an engine from a 92 AWD Talon TSi in my 96 Talon FWD ESi?
Will the transmission from the 420a match up with the 4g63?
Also what other parts will be needed to complete this swap?

I know that these questions have probably been asked a million times but there never seems to be a sufficient answer posted :ohdamn:, so detailed part lists or steps to do swap would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ive already done the research and know a 4g63 will fit it just dosent answer the question can i use a 4g63T from an awd 92 talon and if the tranny from my 420a will match up or what other parts i would need for that exact setup to work i dont want to convert my car to awd

Not sure where you did your research but i will bet you 100 dollars cash money right now that the 4g63 isn't going to bolt into the 420a body without switching the strut towers and lower frame rails. It doesn't fit.

Why aqm i getting two different answers there is a like in this thread saying it will work and then someone telling me its impossiable.

Here is another thread for you to research: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/420a-bolt-tech/412572-420a-4g63-swap-engine-mounts.html

Anything is possible with enough time, money, and skill. Do you have the time, money, and skill to do this project?

Simply put. It does NOT work. Sell the 420a shell if u want a 4g63 or boost the 420a. Thats the only options you have unless you can afford the heavy body work that would need to be done.

As i said if you cut the lower frame rails and strut towers from a turbo car and weld them into your car than yes it will work. But that is a ton of work. Just google it, the 4g63 sits on the driver side of the engine bay, the 420a sits on the passenger side. The frame rail has to have a hump in it for the end of the transmission to fit in there, and the mounts are in totally different locations. Everything is exactly the opposite in the engine bay as far as metal goes.

Thanks thats all i wanted to know just wanted to know because my 420a just grenaded and i was just trying to decide if i wanted to rebuild everything or if the swap would be a better route

Two much work and fab, if u wnt a fwd turbo, just turbo ## 420a, it's just easier, and if u want to 4g63 u will need a lot of parts might as well find a shell, u need a lot of cut and welding, and if undtill choose to u will need a harness trans and cup I think new axels as well

And off topic but just so you know the engine out of the 92 is more than likely a 7bolt. And the tranny will not work because one is a chrsyler and one is a mitsubishi. And as for the swap if you even attept it you will waste so much money that you could have bought 2 already with the 4g63 stock.

I wouldnt say "waste." but what your after is an awd turbo. those are easier purchased then made. if you had a lot and i mean a freaking lot of body and interior custom work on the 2g, then it would be fine to swap the holy grail of motors into your chrysler. Otherwise part that thing out, and spend it on a good dsm

You would have to make custom mounts and axles if you were to try something like that. In the long run it will be cheaper to just buy a running turbo car or buy a shell for a few hundred and piece it together.

Never done the research but could he use a 4G64 engine that has the timing belt on the same side as the 420a? Then from there swap the head of an Evo VIII and rock a whole new 2.4L beast? WTF!!

Every 4g64 I've seen is setup the same way as the 4g63, so I think it would e just as hard.
