Ok I bought another tsi with a blown engine. Its a 95, so its got the hellspawn 7 bolt. I want to pickup a 6 bolt block and crank, allready machined, and build a monster. (just a block and crank) I have seen the list on the magnus motorsports site listing what all is needed to do the swap, but it only covers the 'larger' items. I need to know if I can reuse the smaller parts off my 7 bolt. Such as, but not limited to (chime in if I'm forgetting anything) :
oil dipstick and tube
oil pan (might replace with a nt and -6an fittings)
rear main seal plate (will get a new actual seal)
water pipe
intake manifold brace / bracket
ac compressor mount
ps / alternator mounting brackets
knock sensor

When I get a 1G head can I use the following from my 2G head :
Thermo housing / water neck
rocker arms

Also how well does the 1g cas conversion work ? Does the engine idle properly, smooth power through the range ?

What are your oppinions on using a nt block ? (Im thinking I will have better oil press, and I dont need squirters since I will be running a ross/eagle combo)

I've built 2 6 bolts before, but they came from 1g's so this swap is new to me. Please dont flame, I used the search and found alot of helpfull answers but not specifically what I need.

1g and 2g Thero housings are not the same and not interchangable.

The cas convertion works fine other than random misfires.

If ya got a few bucks to toss at it - ya may want 3g lifters also.

Yeah Id like to get the 3g lifters, crower springs and ti retainers, new ss swril/nitride valves, and bronze guides. I had that setup before and it was very nice. I think this time im going to toss some cams in while im at it. Like I said I have built two different 6 bolts.... just never for a 2g car.

For those wondering - slow boy has a nice list of what is needed to be changed on their website under the engine section then swap I think it is. Just too pricey IMO.

I still question the mounting brackets for the accessories though. As well as the oil pan.
Isnt a 4g63 a 4g63 - with the only exception between the 2 being the crank size is different ? And the head bolts are different.

Oil pan is different. If I remember right the power steering bracket is differnt. Use the 2g mount on drivers side just grind it down till it fits right. Get a 93-94 cas it helps with the rm. Rear main not sure. Oil dipstick is the same. The brace for the intake I wouldn't put back on. Water pipe not sure but I think you need a 6 bolt one. The ac mount not sure (I got rid of ac). Rockers are the same. Knock sensor you must use a 2g, and if you use a n/t block you will prob have to drill and tap it.

I was looking at an old copy of HCI magizine (oct 05) today where they detailed a buildup of a 95 tsi awd. They reused the 2g head (why ???) on a new 6 bolt block. They also used the 2g oil pan saying it had to be done for clearance issues on the 2g awd. I havent finished reading it yet (its at work) but im wondering what else doesnt make sense....
Why would anyone want a 2g head over a 1g ? (they had a jdm motor as a donor, and chucked the head and manifold)

Also is the intake bracket really not needed.... has anyone had any issues with weight stress on the bolts or manifold ? What about if I use a cyclone ?
