can someone help me with where the belts go, i feel like i am putting 2 puzzels together without any pictures and it's kicking my butt.

also does anyone have a close up photo on how the a/c and the alternator goes, i have the alternator on right.... i think but the 12mm bolt that suppose to tighten it doesn't seem to go where it looks like it should... any photos would be great.

maybe it's just me but it seem the a/c isn't lining up with the other belts......

I can't really tell whats going on in your pics, but thats a/c tensioner is not off a 6 bolt I've ever seen. the 6-bolt one is like #7

On 6-bolts the power steering pump belt goes from the power steering pump, to the pulley closer/inner to the motor ( 2 water pump pulleys, 4 10 head bolts on outside)) it's a v-cog belt. (#6)

A/c belt goes; a/c, tensioner, inner crank pulley, (#8)

Alternator belt goes ;alternator, outer water pump pulley, outer crank pulley (#5)

You have your alternator belt installed incorrectly. As sniver stated, the A/C compressor belt loops the compressor, the tensioner, and the rear (engine side) of the crank pulley. The alternator loops the alternator, the front (fender side) of the crank pulley, and the large pulley (fender side) on the water pump. The power steering belt loops the small (engine side) pulley on the water pump.

On a 2G, the power steering belt is ribbed, meaning the small (engine side) pulley on the water pump should also be ribbed. Since you have run the alternator belt there (although incorrectly), I would assume this is what you have. Make sure you haven't installed the large (fender side) pulley on the water pump incorrectly; it appears to be backwards.

hmmm... i wonder how well that belt route would work. which belt did you use?

it's not backwards, I'll take better photos and i can't figure out how to setup the tensioner for the alternator.

also you pic looks like my ac tensioner.... mine just doesn't seem to be lining up correctly for some reason.... i took all the pulleys etc, and parts from my 7 bolt for this swap... i never read anywhere i would need a 6 bolt a/c tenioner pulley.... what am i doing wrong?

Attached at the bottom is a picture of a 6-bolt engine with the water pump pulleys installed correctly. It appears your pulley is not installed this way. Here's a thread showing how the alternator belt will look if the pulley is installed backwards: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/353020-water-pump-pulley-backwards.html. Further, here is a pic of a 2G 6-bolt swap from the top with the two belts installed.

You are right, you don't need a 6-bolt (1G) A/C tensioner pulley since the tensioner mounts to the compressor bracket. In other words, the 1G tensioner is fully compatible with the 1G compressor bracket only. The same goes with the 2G equipment. Are you trying to use a 1G compressor? Normally the compressor from the car receiving the engine is used and never disconnected from the lines. It may be that the two compressors are different enough to cause your problem.

Maybe the attached pic will help you with the alternator tensioner as well.

Although the previous post is from a week ago and he has most likely Put everything else on, I agree, where is your timing cover??? Unless you want the fun of putting on the belts again and spending money on a head rebuild you best put the cover on if it isnt already.

You guys are life savers for posting these photos, I couldn't for the life of me remember how my AC tensioner mounted to my engine. My engine has been torn apart for over a year and I ordered a longblock and now it's all going back in. But he really should throw that timing cover on. Even if you don't have one, you can check on ebay or check with Jon at dsmgraveyard and locate AT LEAST a lower timing cover for fairly cheap. But good luck getting all your belts together man. I'll be going through all that mess here soon.

I try to provide as many pictures as possible to help others like yourself out, because in my search i have found verry little help dealing with just about everything "visually"

No worries about the cover- it's covered.

for some reason my page doesn't show when someone had posted.. weird.
