the swap will soon begin but i need to know a few things first, example my car is a 1st gen body with a 7bolt previoulsy in it.

1. will the wiring be any different?

2.will i have to move anything? starter ext.

3. please pardon my noobness.

ANY help would be helpfull

themain thing that gets my is the wiring harness is it any different>

well im currently doing a 6 bolt into a 93 DL which came with the 1.8L N/A
i had to replace the wiring harness and ECU cause i needed them to be a 91-94 Turbo

But i do know that you would have to replace the
Cam Angle sensor
Thottle body
TPS
PowerTransistor
CoilPack
and ICS

Because the 90's are completely different from the 91-94's

Other then those parts you should be Good!

so upon surfing the site i come across information, i guess there was two generations of 7 bolt motors and the one i got does not have the crank walk issues as the 2nd gen being mine is a first gen, so im wondering if it would be better to swap anyway or just rebuild.
the 1g 7bolt uses narrower rods and smaller bearings.. couldn't i just upgrade toa differient set of rods?:hmm: just exploring my options any suggestions are certainly welcome all this stuffis confusing me thanks:confused:

Just get the 6bolt, there is nothing that you have to mod! The head will bolt up, the clutch will bolt up every thing is pretty much the same. I swaped a 6bolt in my 93 tsi so im telling you will be fine.

the sensors and all wiring is the same. also, there is no difference in the 1g heads' whether it is on a 6 bolt or a 7 bolt

One thing you will need is a 6bolt flywheel!! witch you should already know.

please no arguing. thanks for the info so all i need is a 6 bolt crank and flywheel? this is new information to me. also i did not know the heads on the 1g aree the same.

No. You need the entire bottom end. Then bolt your head on it. Nothing 6 bolt or 7 bolt is interchangeable on the bottom end.
