ok so i have had tons of electrical issues in my laser rs. and so i am buying a tsi that spun a bearing, it doesnt have an engine and mine is good so i am going to need help on the process can some one give me a list of what i should do first when pulling the motor, i will post pics as soon as the tsi gets here

I had a 93 with a motor swap; it's pretty straight forward, I think it's a direct swap! Pull the old engine out, put new one in the same way! Hook everything up they way you pulled it!

I would put new timing stuff on it while engine is out of cars cause it is easy to get to, unless you just did it.

you may even want to consider doing a balance shaft removal. And if not then DEFINITELY change the BS belt. And of course the timing belt.

YES, mine has the BS removed, I would have said the same thing, but I got used to assuming everyone already has done that or knows to do it.

It's a very good idea to do that if you can. Especially since the engine will be out anyway.

I wouldn't use the stubby shaft. Use the one from AMS. Too many horror stories from the stub.

i am trying to find a kit that has pistons rings and bearings for the 6 bolt

Hmm..Yeah might as well do the pistons, rings, inspect the bearings too while you are in there. Does it have good oil pressure?

partsdinosaur.com is excellent!

4G63T Mitsubishi 2.0 DOHC Turbo Engine Rebuild Parts

mitsubishiparts.com is also good

Those are the 2 I use most along with forced performance for little things here and there.

Wow only about $150 shipped for the pistons and rings unreal man.

Subtotal $129.00
$11.69
Tax $0.00
Total $140.69

I wonder if yours will be need to be bored? best wait to find out before you actually purchase the pistons, huh?

Putting a engine from a 90 into a 93 will give you a handful of electrical obstacles.

90 is a bastard year.
plugs for the following will not be a direct fit:
TPS
Cam sensor
coil pack
transistor pack
Cruise control.

The throttle body is completely different aswell.
and when you swap to the 91+ TB, the fuel rail will then be in the way of the TPS. so a 91+ fuel rail will be required.

Very helpful info.

Well the good news is he has you to help him online, and those parts are pretty cheap used.:thumb:

Oh yeah, sorry I thought it was more straight forward, mine is a 91, and I missed that yours is from a 90.

Well you should have the parts in the TSI anyway for most of it, if it has the old engine.

You want to see at least about 140 PSI with a 1G engine (7.8 psi) Mine is about 150-155 across the board.
