90 Talon TSi awd and 93 Talon TSi fwd motor swap noob

Hello, I have a running 90 talon tsi awd that is pretty rough around all the edges and pretty nasty and not to mention tranny grinds going onto 1st gear. Can i swap the engine out and into my minty mint 93 talon tsi fwd with a blown and busted engine. i know its a 7 bolt (or should be right) and my 90 is a 6 bolt. they are both 4g63t and its in the same generations so the swap should be straight foward right? i wanna make sure that this is a legit swap and is possible and if there is anythign i should be fore warned or looking foward to. parts needed or what not. i would love to make my 93 fwd tsi awd but i dont think that is possible, its up in the air on some of these forums so ill jsut keep it fwd. and alos maybe if i can rebuild my blown 4g63t out of the 93 can i swap that back into my 90 tsi awd?

Both 6 bolt's. It is a real easy swap. Go for it

Actually, the OP was correct. The 93 IS a 7 bolt. The 6 bolt will be an easy swap into your 93.

89-to 92.5 6 bolt 92.5 to 99 are 7 bolt

Yes, swapping back and forth should be a relatively easy thing to do. I don't know of any extra parts you'll need. So go for it! The AWD conversion is quite a bit of work, so if your 93 is really minty mint, I'd say just leave it be for now and enjoy the ride.

PS. My car has a build date of 5/18/92 and is a 6-bolt. I think the 7-bolts started production in June.

Be sure to check to see if your ignition system is cam angle sensor driven or crank angle sensor pickup.
Your 90 is cam angle sensor I am not sure about the 93
