I have a 90 gsx eclipse and I just blew out the bottom end. I was thinking about doing a rebuild with a stroker kit and I have no idea what parts I need and what I need to do to start. I did a search for Stroker kits and a parts list and only found single parts on a stroker that people had questions on. If some one out there did a cost effective stroker could you please post all parts and machine work done to the block, or forward me to a post that I missed on my resurch. Thanks all

To start with you are going to have to get a 2.4L crank out of the junk yard. They are found in hyundai's. Make sure it is a 6 bolt 2.4L NA motor. around 50 from a junk yard.
You will also need either stock length 6bolt rods. I would go with eagle rods, they run around 300 dollars.
Next you will need stroker pistons. They are different than normal 6bolt pistons so make sure you get stroker pistons from whatever vender you get it from. This is going to run around 400 with rings. Make sure your pistons match your block. (If block is .20 over get .20 over pistons.)
Besides that you just need a stock block that is going to have to be bored at least .20 over, hot tanked, and decked. This should run you about 300-400 dollars if you just drop off a bare block. Also you are going to have to shave the bock in 3 different places.

I would recommend an SBR kit. Nicely priced and you know all of the parts are good. Cheaper than peicing it together and you don't have to guess with a used crank or pay to get it checked and polished. Everything is ready to drop right in and run.
 
you find me a stroker kit for under a grand, which is what i payed doing it my way, and i will buy it. Until then slowboy and especially jackson are not the most cost effective methods to building a stroker motor.

thats amazing, im happy you did it for so cheap, but he did not specify what his power goals where or if he wanted new or used parts, only that he wanted a cost effective 2.4 stroker kit. The JAM and slowboy kits ARE cost effective if you need forged internals. I just assumed (possibly incorrectly) that most people who go with the stroker kits want high horsepower numbers but the driveability/streetability and torque of higher displacement which usually requires built internals.
 
a stroker kit requires a good overall set up honestly. Since your engine is a chain and is only as strong as its weakest link, consider cam/ turbo/ ( if fwd ) lsds etc. Because that stroker is going to be kicking out a bunch of torque, and my friends stroker ( with only a 16g at 16lbs, fmic, 3.5in side exhaust, with some other good mods. ) barely has traction through 1st gear. When he floors it, first gear becomes useless. The tires just spin really bad and has a lot of torque steer and sometimes wheel hop.
 
If you decide to not build your own, and have the money, go with a FP stroker, much better quality. I have one, and can attest that they are built much better. I have worked on a SBR stroker, before I made my purchase. No comparison.

Are you sure about that? the SBR stage 1 kit was just the eagle rod/wiseco piston combo and the stage 2/3 kits included more badass rods and different compression ratios. SBR doesnt actually make any of the parts except for referbished crank, and those are really really hard to break anyways. What made the "FP" stroker kit far better than the SBR kit? id be interested to know.
