ok well last saturday my harmonic balancer broke and my timing belt ate up the A/C compressor Belt, and the alternator belt snaped and looks like it was cut. soo i got it flatbeded to the shop that does all the major work on my GST sence i dont have the tools or utilitys to do it my self... but they got it up in the air and removed the belt cover and tried to inspect the Timing belt for for damage but when the guy tried to turn the crankshaft he stop looked at me with this smirk and said "the crankshaft wont make a full rotation...." and when he said this the first thing i thought was the dreaded CRANKWALK OMG but then i thought if it was CW then there would be a huge hole in the motor. soo i asked him what he thought it may be and he told me that it may be a bent rod the motor has 145,561 miles on it. he wont be able to tell what it is until he starts taking it apart but i was wondering would it be cheaper to have him take the motor apart and find and replace the problem and pay the parts and labor fee's or would it be cheaper to drive my mom's Isuzu rodeo for a while and get a 6 Bolt and have it ported and polished at this shop i know of and build the thing myself, and if its cheaper to go with the 6 bolt then what other parts would i need and what can i recycle from the parts i have already in the car???

The problem with building the motor yourself, as you said is the lack of tools. Did you timing belt break? If so, it likely took the pistons and the valves with it. You might be better off just purchasing a full long block from a dismantler if that is the case but then there is still the labor of putting it in. If the engine isnt making a full rotation, then likely something is binding up which sounds like it could be pistons and valves or possibly worse.

My money would be on purchasing a long block and being done with it. The labor of pulling the engine apart, purchasing the needed parts, putting it in and then putting the engine in would be more expensive then just buying a long block itself.
