I have seen cheap parts store wires fit like this before. The gap leaves space for oil/water or debris to get into the spark plug wells, not a good thing. Can you push them down anymore and they just pop back up, like they are worn?

no i just replaced these myself a couple months ago and have always been like this.. thye cant go down any further.. they are for a 98 gst.. but the guy said they did a 6 bolt swap would that make a differance?

I'm using a 97 oem wires for my 6bolt swap fits perfect.
Wonder what's the differences in aftermarket wires from 6bolt to 7bolt shouldn't be different

oh ok.. so would this explain my dilemma.. i bought these wires at advance autoparts for a 2g eclipse.. whyh does it look like this

No it wouldn't, the wires themselves are a bit longer, not the tube that goes into the head and on the spark plug, those are the same.
I am using 1g wires on my 2g for 2 reasons
1)they are a little longer so it works better with my evo3 IM and coil pack location
2)for some reason the 1g NGK wires are cheaper than 2g NGK wires.

+1^ Been running 6bolt wires on my 7bolt for a coilpack relocation. Works fine with no problems. Something is not right. They should still seat down on the valve cover the same.
