Hello everyone, so I crankwalked. But, I have already acquired a 6 bolt short block, oil cooler, lines, flywheel, CAS, and oil pump. I'm kind of at a stand still for where to go next. I am picking up a 1g head and intake manifold, along with a non turbo throttle body. But what all can be used from my 7 bolt block? Will all the timing pullies, tensioner, and those kind of components work? How about the thermostat housing/water outlet? I've looked over this forum, and others and I keep seeing things "may" work, but I want to know what will and what wont bolt up. My car is a 1995 gsx.

The 1g timing components will be used.
Also the 1g t-stat and water pipe will be used.
The 2g timing bracket will be used.

Ok, how about motor mounts and the power steering pump?

All accessories bolt to the block the same way, so you will use almost everything that came off the original engine. You will need the 2g driver side motor mount bracket, 6 bolt tensioner arm and 6 bolt timing components. If you are using the 1g head than you need the 1g intake, water pipe, and thermostat housing. I recommend using the 2g head, manifold, water pipe and water neck to keep it simple. It is a very easy swap to do, the only thing different from bolting in a 7 bolt is modifying the driver side mount bracket. Other than that everything bolts together just like the old engine came out.

Oh sweet that's exactly what I needed to know, thanks man!

I just finished the swap today (6-bolt block and 2g head).

2g Head:

1) 1g CAS take the your old cam angle sensor and crank angle sensor and make a new harness for it (check roadraceengineering.com or I have the PDF saved from magnus).

2) You have to drill out the head bolts to 12 mm, I had the machine shop do it while I was getting everything machined.

3) I kept the 2g thermostat housing and used a 'T' Fitting for the turbo coolant line (this is because the 6 bolt block has no where to put in the water banjo bolt/hose).

4) I kept the stock 2g water pipe (that's why I used the 'T' Fitting). I have a 14b turbo already swapped in.

5) Change the spark plug wires, On the ignition coil stock 95-96 is 4123, I changed mine to 2341 (<- I will double check this because I am not 100% sure, car runs though).

1g block:

1) Motor mount stays the same, grind the drivers side mount (previously stated) check the roadraceengineering site you and you can figure it out.

2) 1g water pump

3) 1g tensioner arm

4) 1g hydraulic tensioner (the 2g one will not line up on the oil pump)

5) 2g starter plate

6) 1g 6-bolt flywheel

7) 1g oil filter housing (port it if you eliminate your Balance shafts), all sensors are the same.

8) 1g oil pump (remove balance shafts)

9) 1g timing cover (you will have to trim it slightly to clear the 2g mount.

10) I am not 100% sure on this, the 6-bolt block I found had all of the timing components on it, but I used all of the timing plates for the head and block (these have the threaded holes for the timing cover bolts to go into).

11) Harmonic balancer is same for 1g or 2g and use 2g pulleys on the water pump (doesn't matter 1g or 2g I think).

12) 2g Alternator and 2g Alternator arm (the one that bolts into the water pump).

13) 2g knock sensor

14) 2g A/C Bracket (you need this to bolt the half shaft onto).

15) I used the 2g belts, the power steering one was a little short it seemed like, but I was able to fit it in there.

This list is off the top of my head. I am sure I am forgetting something...PM me if you have questions.

Very nice! Now, I have another problem. What do I do about switching the firing order if I have COP?

Oh, and I'm not using coolant lineson my turbo anyways.
