im doing a swap with a 1g N/T block with forged pistons into my 97 GS-T. And i have a couple of questions.

1. what parts exactly can i keep from my 2g?
2. what 1g parts will i need?
3. what other preperations will i need to do besides trimming motor mount?
any other tips or problems you may have come across would be a good help.

thanks john

i wanted more of a specific answer ive already read that.

heres a more specific question: what will i have to use from the 1g donor car? and since the block was NT will i need new 1g turbo parts like oil filter, oil pump? i dont know what parts im just throwing some out there

not to be rude but, i dont want links just answers

Have you even read those links? Why should we take the time to type all that out when it's already in the links?

And like I said, this has been gone over soooooo many times. Here's one more link...
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/search.php
Search for something along the lines of 6 bolt swap, then start reading.

First thing in that first link was this:) and you will need a turbo oil pan

================================================================================
What do I need to put a 1G/JDM 6-bolt short block into my Manual Trans Turbo 2G?
================================================================================
For a Short Block replacement, keeping all else 2G and stock;

You will need a COMPLETE 6 Bolt short block with pan, from flywheel to the
timing belt cover. The 1G timing belt cover will need to be modified to
accommodate the 2G motor mount. The flywheel type will need to matched your
manual trans type, AWD or FWD.

One bolt on the front if the transmission will not have a place to thread into
the 6 bolt block, and is usually backed up with a nut.

The oil filter assembly should match the type of cooler you are going to use.
91'-92.5' were 6-bolt and water/oil cooled.

The water pipe and water neck will be 2G to match the 2G head, so the plumbing
will be all set to feed a Water/Oil type oil cooler. Save the 2G oil supply
lines for the cooler, and your turbo setup.

The 2G head will need to have the head stud holes made bigger to accommodate the
6-Bolt head studs.

The 2G crank signal will have to be replaced with a simulated Crank signal from
a 1G CAS. (See the RRE 1G CAS info pages)
Http://www.roadraceengineering.com/1gcasin2g.htm

You will need to build/buy a wiring harness for it.

================================================================================
What if I also have a 1G head?

Use a;
1G intake manifold.
1G water neck with the radiator cap.
1G thermostat
late 1G coil pack

Make a custom TB elbow for your late 1G or 2G TB. The EGR system can be disabled
or you can plumb a 2G map sensor and appropriate vacuum lines to a 2G EGR valve.
(See EGRhose.gif in the files section - http://tinyurl.com/677j6 )

Make a bracket to mount the 2G injector resistor pack to the 1G intake manifold.

The shifter counter weight on the transmission is typically cut off to make room
for the lower radiator hose with a 1G water pipe.

Water pipe, and oil filter assembly selection will depend what oil cooler you
decide to use.

1G or 2G water/oil cooler uses a 91'-92.5' 1G water pipe with water fittings
and a 91'-92.5' oil filter housing.

1G/after market air/oil coolers uses a 90' 1G water pipe without water fittings
and a 90' 1G oil filter housing with an air/oil cooler in three possible
flavors:

1. Aftermarket air/oil cooler with custom hoses and custom mounting
2. 90' 1G factory oil cooler with factory hoses and custom mounting
3. 97+ automatic transmission fluid cooler with factory hoses, a 97+ front
bumper with ducting and factory mounting hardware.

It tells you absolutely every part you need from your donor car.....and I added that you need a 6 bolt TURBO OIL PAN. That is all you will need. I have done the swap many times. Once you have the parts listed it is very straight foward. What else are you looking for?

just quit posting in this thread your NO HELP your just posting pointless stuff:nono:

and read the before you reply: NUMBER 1. No "Use the Search" replies

Ok, lets see what a simple search would have turned up.

Oil Filter Housing: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/cylinder-head-short-block/335432-6-bolt-swap-oil-filter-housing.html
CAS: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/315268-reuse-2g-cas-6-bolt-swap.html
Oil Pump: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/310193-6-bolt-swap-oil-pump-question.html
More: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/309359-6-bolt-swap-addons.html

And you get even more answers if you type in the part in question with your search.

And read page 4 of that Magnus writeup.
You must be logged in to view this image or video.

But more questions arise, like are you going to use a 1g or 2g head? Are you sticking with the stock turbo or are you going bigger?

At this level of modification, beyond that list from Magnus, you should be able to figure out what you'd need, otherwise this swap might not be for you.

And my response to search gives you more answers that what I would ever be able to give you. It's 7 years of information from people doing 6 bolt swaps. Most questions have been answered in it in some way, shape of form.

Hate to act like a jerk.... sorry.

To run a NT 6 bolt engine in a Turbo car, You need to change the
.T-Stat housing
.Water pipe if you're running a turbo that uses coolant.
.You will need to change the Cams
.You will also Need a Water cooled oil filter housing. The NT has NO cooler on the filter housing.
.You can add the oil squirters, tho they are not 100% necessary if you're using forged pistons.
.You will need a Turbo Oil pan...or modify the NT one for the Oil return line.
.May or may NOT have to TAP the knock sensor hole.
.Its also a good Idea to upgrade the seals in the NT throttle body with turbo shaft seals or O-rings
.Obviously the pistons have to be changed out for turbo pistons or forged units. Usually Lower compression, but not always.

Thats all I can think of right now...

well since im using a 2g turbo head all i will need to change is the t-stat housing and water and water cooled oil filter?? could i use those from my 2g?
thanks

so this is all i will need if i have forged pistons, a 2g head, and besides the motor mount trimming? i have everything in good condition from the 2g motor...

those were the answers i was looking for
thanks john

Well if you're running a 2g head then you will just use your 2g T-stat housing. But the oil filter housing will have to be off a 6 bolt turbo engine.

well we've decided to do the mods on the 2g (oil pump case? not sure thats exactly what its called.) so would that eliminate the oil filter housing needing to be a 1g?

Also ive read yes and no on this question, but will a 2g oil pan fit the 6 bolt block?

thanks Jeff99GS for answering my questions

might be ordering the MAP oil pan if i cant find a decent one for a good price. any thoughts on it?

so there is nothing else i will need since were modding the 2g front case and using a 2g head? (dont forget its a NT block)

thanks again
