alright guys id like to post this in a diffferent section but being a new member i have to do it here..but anyway. I have a 97 gs. 420a in the bay. was wondering if the 4g64 block is the same block that dodge used in there cloud cars. i want to have a 2.4l with dohc, an can get one cheap if the blocks are the same. thanks in advance.

It is a totally different engine, one is a chrysler and site on the passenger side of the engine bay and one is mitsubishi and sits on the driver side of the engine bay. The 01-05 sebring and stratus did have the 4g64 in them, but the others are the 420a style engine.

The Stratus and Sebring, as well as the minivans came with a 420a styled 2.4l that your head will fit on. Be carefull, though, the valve reliefs in the pistons are cut differently on the engines that the intake is on the front of the engine. I don't know if it'll make any difference, but it's something that I've noticed.

the ones in the 3gs sit on the passenger side..why would i not be about to use it?

just believe us on this one, it won't work because they're TWO DIFFERENT ENGINES.
its like trying to get a honda b-18 head and trying to throw it on a 4g63. it simply won't work.

The two also use a different engine management system and the transmission bellhousings are different also. If you are going to do a full drivetrains and electronics swap, then I'd do lke your buddy and go after the Evo swap.

no need to be a smart a**. i have a 3g as a donar car. so i have everything in reach. evo 8 head an maf on the way.
