Hey everyone I am building a Mighty Max with a 2.4L (4G64) and am putting on a 4G63 head with a turbo setup. I was told the rods I want will work. But I am unable to find the bore sizes for these motors? Can we use standard 4G63 pistons or is the bore different? The 64 block is stock and shows no signs of abuse so we are just going to hone it....so stock bore. Thanks
Hey I finally found it, the 4G63 is 85mm bore x 88mm stroke while the 4G64 is 86.5mm bore x 100mm stroke

You didn't search too hard, as I have a thread about the 4g64 already.

The rods between a 4g64 and 4g63 are the same size, but the crank, and pistons are not. The default size of the bore on a 4g63 is 85mm, and the default size bore on a 4g64 is 86.5mm.

You can get 86.5mm pistons from many vendors, such as SBR for example. (link below)

Yes you can use the DOHC from the 4g63 if you want, but will require a different timing gear, and you will need to close off 5 oil drain holes on the 4g64 block as the 4g63 head does not use them, or you can find a DOHC head from a 94 Galant 4g64 DOHC engine and use it. :)

If you are trying to build it. Call SBR and tell them you are building a 3G eclipse with an EVO head.
They'll get you the right pistons.

Uh... Why would he do that? What if his 4g64 engine is a 6 bolt? That would mean he would have pistons that won't fit his rods.

Sounds like a really dumb thing to do, calling up SBR and telling them you have a 3G Eclipse 4g64 and an EVO head. *sigh*

And I will go ahead and say it... not all 4g64 engines are the same. There are different 4g64 engines in the newer years. The deck height does change somewhere in the line but I'm not sure where. I know that either the 7g/8g or 8g/9g 4g64 Galant engines had differences, and if I remember right it was the deck height, causing different piston height, or rod length. (research).
