How were the IAT's on the HY35 compared to the 20G?


430fwhp on 93 @ 28psi doesn't sound too terribly bad. But for an HY35 that seems a little...not low...but lower than I would expect.

I didn't tune the car on the 20G so I can't tell you there. IAT's were around 92-93º on the earlier pulls, were about 100º towards the end. Temps in the shop were just high and it was hot as hell.

I did some research on #'s with similar setups and on a stock bottom end, didn't really find any that compared. Most people made mid 300's to high 300's on a little less boost. Honestly, I thought the #'s were pretty good, especially considering how hot it was.
 
Pump gas will do that. She made exactly what I would expect.

An HY35 is only a 54mm turbo.

I was honestly impressed with the #'s on pump, exceeded my expectations. On top of that it's not an agressive tune. AFR's are plenty safe, car doesn't see a count of knock at all in any of the pull. Can't complain. :)
 
I Think the HY35 is the best dsm turbo ever. On E85 and 20psi mine made right about 400whp breathing thru a 2g maf. and at 33-35psi it made 604, then blew up trying to make more.

I literally unbolted the HY from the exhaust side, slid in a HE351 and made 653. BEST DSM TURBO'S EVER.

What correction factor was applied?

STD. I the SAE #'s were 427whp on pump and 484whp on race gas if I recall correctly.

Not to keep skankin up the thread, but look at the power curve from mine at 20-25psi.. This was thru a 2g maf, and this is where it start restricting it. Good power from 4000-8000, and would like to go 9k if it had springs in it.

Why would anyone run anything else?

DKS272's and a Home made smim. JMF FMIC, E85 750's and 1 255HP. AFR's were like 11.5:1 and 25* timing up top.

Are you asking why I would go speed density over a MAF?
 
Ohh, LOL. Well before this one, I swore I would never go the holset route, Jus changed my mind, LOL. Personal preference tends to keep other people on other turbos
 
Haha, yea, it is too small for some people, but it reached my goal just fine :)

I just saw a 3rd gear pull log today from her car and it hit 27psi at exactly 4400 RPM's.

Well, this stuff comes easy to me in all honesty, to me it was easy. Maybe to someone else it's a bit more difficult, don't really know how to answer that question. :(
