So they did the valve job for bigger valves without the valves? You would have to have the valve there to even know where your face is meeting the seat. Everything looks pretty fixable OTHER than the cam journals. That head is pretty much trash now. The metal around the chambers i can see why that might be there. If the machine shop is just doing the machine work often times they won't debur stuff like that. I've gotten them like that before when i just took a head in for a resurface.

Cam journals can be fixed, there may be more problems w/ the head as it looks as a total disregard to customer.

I would try to get my money back and take it somewhere else, OP should know there is something called LABOR CLAIM.

I really don't understand why people start these threads before the situation is resolved and then will not tell who did the work. All it does is make people start guessing and that can indirectly hurt a good vendor.

x2

The OP says "guys you won't BELIEVE" who did this!!! And then tells everyone to be respectful and not guess...LOL. Should have posted this up after it was resolved with the machinist.

No, I'm sure it wasn't him. He doesn't surface heads on a belt sander. Lots of shops do the oil port mod now, so that's not really much of any indication of who did the work.

Yes, this head was quite obviously done on a belt sander. I had a motor with a head that was surfaced in this manner, and the corners of the deck were so low that it pissed oil like a champ all over my transmission. I dont understand how someone could do a valve job without having the valves youre going to be using in this head:confused: I have my stuff done by a certain guy whos local to me and have never had an issue with his work. Heres a pic, I know its dark...

Sub par work for sure. I was in awe when I looked at this head in person. First thing I noticed was the lack of deburing. Then upon looking further into it I noticed the rusted valve guides. Really? You couldn't spray the head down with WD40 or any type of oil to stop that from happening? Then of course the sand blasted cam journals OMG! I couldn't believe that when I saw it.

I really hope this guy works things out for you bro. For the money you could have gotten a lot more done too I'm sure.

This head wasn't surfaced by a belt sander btw. It was cut with the correct tool.

I showed the machinist the oil port mod thread so it could be done on my head. If necessary, I will disclose who did the work.

I think you should at least clear it up that it was NOT BogusSVO, I think people are getting the idea that it is him in a round about way. This post pretty much shows it wasnt him, he is not going to need to see a thread to do the oil port mod..... Sucks what happened here good luck with it.

I wouldn't even believe you if you said it was him. His work is top notch

This thread reminded me of something he told me.
I don't know the exact circumstances but he once saw 2 rednecks dragging a head on concrete to surface it. They even threw a couple sand bags on it for extra weight.

I hope you can work this out but even I could have did a better job then that.

Well in 3rd world countries and no too 3rd world countries they do the milling on the sidewalk or pieces of concrete, I have seen this done, and of course the surface may not turn out e=very nice, but they get the job done.

I don't understand the point of this thread... it isn't a very healthy discussion when you have people throwing around vendor names playing the guessing game. I'm shutting this down. This should be a Vendor Review if and when the situation is resolved anyway.
