Well I have done a t-belt job hundreds of times on a 4g63 and can do it blindfolded in about 45 minutes nowdays. I have never done timing on a 420a and just need to make sure of something:
The dowel pins on the cams should face up(12 o clock position) just like the 4g63? Thanks in advance.
Mike

. Yeah, on the 420a one dowel up and one dowel down. I believe the intake dowel is down and the exhaust is up (like you said wolf2003; 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock.

what I had trouble with is the fact that I had the tensioner pulley loosened as much as it would go, yet still didn't have enough slack to get the belt around it...it of course being the last obstacle, as the belt was routed everywhere else already. I ended up being sneaky about it and removed it from it's stud that holds it to the bracket, and slid the belt onto the edge at the same time I was pushing it back onto the stud
