420a sputter and stall problems

I have a 99 eclipse rd that I recently dropped a motor into. Have been driving with the motor in for about 2 months now. Ever since the day I put the motor in, there seems to be this slight sputter when idle. Sometimes when backing up or creeping forward in traffic, the car will sometimes stall. Or even when sitting at a stop sign, ot will sometimes randomly stall out. The car has no issues on the highway or normal driving, just when idle or backing up. Also, there are no check engine lights on the dash, and nothing comes up on the obdII scanner. Passes inspection just fine, just a pain in the butte when it sputters and stalls. The car has a brand new crankshaft position sensor, and fuel filter. (My first attempts at fixing the problem) any help would be great.

I used to own a 99 eclipse gs and I had a very similar problem. Try cleaning the MAP sensor, that's what I did and it worked like a charm.

id check vacuum lines, MAF, maybe just need to clean fuel injectors using sea foam or something similar

ok i have a 98 eclipse gs only has roughly about 136*** and we have a cold start issue only way i can get it to run once its cooled down or early morning is by stepping on the gas pedal. once its warmed up it runs fine. next thing its doing is when driving coming to a stop or reverse it stalls itself and sometimes will shut off like the rpm drop till point it stops once in a while it will rev back up. its my eclipse i had like the car clean car but just this problem. anything i can do to fix will help or what should i check. thanks guys.

I had same problems in both my eclipse N/A,rpms would drop almost stall jump and then stall after couple times of jumping and it ended up begin the crank position sensor. Its about 60$ at Auto zone. Hope this helps guys.

There is no MAF on a 420a by the way..

OP - clean the MAP sensor and check timing marks and everything else everyone else said.
