420A Cold start sputter , rough idle

Just bought a 1999 eclipse gs with 146,000 miles on the 420a. Since i bought it, its had some cold start and idling issues. At first try, the car just cranks for a second, then it starts firing randomly, like sputtering, but not enough to start it. after maybe 5-7 seconds it will fire up and start but will run rough and choppy for maybe 30 seconds, then the idle smoothes out and it will run totaly fine after that. also if i punch the gas quickly while cold the idle drops to a near-stall level and the car "huffs" like it got punched in the stomach. I ordered a new fuel filter for it but wont have it til monday. what does this sound like to you? thanks

I am by no means a car expert but is the Check Engine Light on and is there any codes? If so what are they.

It could be many things. Spark plugs and wires. Dirty MAF. Clogged fuel filter. Clogged injectors.

only check engine light is for an EVAP pump leak or something like that.(if anyone knows what that means in normal terms id love to hear it). the car might be running rich, im replacing the IAC, then the plugs, then the filter, then the injectors. all regular maintenance anyways so it wont hurt to start knocking things out
